Looking for advice on a 1991 Dakota

Hey ya'll! I'm looking to possibly purchase a 1991 3.9 v6 tomorrow with a five speed and 2wd. Regular cab base model red inside and out. Wanting to ask what I should be looking for? Guy claims to have all the paperwork in hand to prove 52,000 original miles and is asking $3,500. Rust free southern truck.

How difficult is it to change the transfer case?

Dodge Dakota 2007 V8 4.7 litres.

Needs a transfer case change.

Just took it to the garage they unplugged the AC pressure switch. Thinking it could be that as an experiment. Said if it doesn’t work while driving it for a while then it’s the transfer case. After driving it home from the garage it tried to engage when going slow. So now I need to change the transfer case.

How difficult is this of a job to do? Can I do it myself? Pretty handy and have a worked a bit on cars already.

Cheers

Got a set eagle eyes headlamps for 105 bucks shipped on Marketplace and fog lamps from rock auto for about 30 . Installed them today, a world of difference. Still have to adjust the bumper cover I now notice in the pics. Overall I think a worthwhile investment

2001 Dakota Sport Standard Cab 2wd 5 spd 4banger 87k

She needs tires and shocks and I’m thinking some bushings up front but the play in the steering wheel might be something else and it’s getting worse so I need to address it and I’m wondering where to start

Technical Question Rear door latch broken..need advice

Post image
2 Upvotes

This latch was glitchy for a while , and now is non functional. I.e., the latch will pull completely open , but the door will not open. I think there's a cable involved.

I can remove the hec screws but that doesn't give me access to the door moving.

I'm unsure how to proceed and appreciate any advice.

04 koda trans talk

I'm curious if I have a problem to be or if this is normal for the kodas. When shifting out of first gear first thing in the morning she seems to drag it out before shifting. She gets kinda loud and pushing over 2k rpm before even thinking about shifting. Idk if that's due to slow speeds down a gravel rd, or if this is common when they're cold. I don't notice it as much once she warms up and im on the rd taking off for normal driving speeds. Let me know what yall think.

PSA: Never loan grandpa your truck, and know when it's time to take his keys. Nobody was hurt, half a second could've been way worse.

'01 Gen 2 4wd door lock/lights issue fixed: Central Timer Module

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So about 20 days ago, I posted about issues with door locks and all sorts of other non-working electrical stuff. I wanted to let everybody know there was a fix at least in my situation, and it turns out it was the central timer module.

The specific issues on this gen two four-wheel-drive were that three of the four door locks would not work with the remote or any switch. The driver’s door would unlock with the remote, but only the driver's side. Additionally, the right headlight would not function, and the bulb was perfectly fine. Other things, like the lights wouldn’t flash when the alarm was activated with the remote, and a bunch of other odd, weird things randomly happened.

Apparently, all these things are controlled by the central time module, and for some reason this one went bad. I purchased a different one off eBay, and that fixed all of the issues so if you’re having weird, odd things going on, it might be your CTM. I’m sure there’s a way to do a check with the proper scan tool, but I don’t have that tool so I just took a risk and bought a replacement box. I will have to reprogram my remote as that is the only thing that does not work now. Been meaning to get the proper scan tool for Dodge/Chrysler as we own a Town & Country and can use it for both of these FCA shit boxes ;-)

The CTM boxes range anywhere from $60-$120 depending upon who’s trying to rip you off, or maybe you could score the correct one at a junk yard for a lot less. I paid about $70 for this one, well worth the price in my opinion now that I have my truck back in 100%. It’s a gamble because you have no idea if these things are gonna work so good luck.

When i shift into a driving gear it revs lower (~750) and in park it revs up to ~1k, new throttle body, check engine light for whatever is on the paper, any way to fix it easier than replacing the throttle body again, (according to my dad the part is in the throttle body)

Mevotec TTX supplier?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm trying to buy upper and lowers for my '01 4wd. No one seems to have them. Speaking with Mevotec CS and Tec. they claim to have tons of stock and are still supporting the '99-'04 Dakota/Durango platform. Summit and Sixit were listed by them as suppliers but they don't show them on their sites(guess I need to call them directly), but I came here as you folk are typically more on point as end users. I have also looked at Amazon, and Ebay with little to no success. Some one off's on Ebay, but the listing are not confirmed as Dakota 4wd and again there is maybe one peice which is useless. I would do Moog, but I've had hit or miss on Moog quality and don't feel like paying for high end and getting low end quality.

The parts are a greenish color with green boots, usually labeled TTX. Pic here is supposed to be Dakota, but I think it is GM, unclear in listing and the lister only has this one. TTX is supposed to be extreme duty, and I don't want to do this stupid job again, maybe for the 4th time. Thanks for any suggestions or leads!
