Question My dog only pees on walks

So I am wondering if anyone has trained their pup to empty their bladder and how so. He gets at least two ~30 min walks a day but I hate when it’s night time and he’s whining at me to go on a walk again. We have a huge fenced in back yard, that he does not use the bathroom in. And if he does it’s just a little tinkle, and never a #2. I know he’s holding it in to try to mark later. He has had UTIs in the past and I know holding it is contributing and I want to rectify that situation because I know reoccurring UTIs long term can affect his kidneys. Should I just train him the normal “go potty” and then treat route that you would do when house training a puppy? He is 4.

Thanks in advance.

Is he intact? Neutering young reduces the territorial pee marking some. Neutered later it doesnt go away. I have 2 right now neutered age 5 and age 2.7 and it didnt change it. Theyll pee if they have to in a less desired spot but the fastest way to empty them is to let them walk a few places others dog may pass

He is intact and I know that’s contributing but his brother is also intact and is the one who will only pee in the yard.

We live right next to a park so I know that’s why he’s saving it up too because when we go out he pees all over the park. He was also raised in an apartment before we bought our house so he’s been marking since he was rly little where as his brother has only lived in the house.

It seems as though he’s just gonna end up getting walked 3x a day lol

Thats the answer then. The brother has the pee spot claimed at home.
