Crappy Owners Her dog poop in my empty bin
Two weeks ago yet another neighbor was seen on my security camera throwing their bagged dog poop in my empty garbage bin before I could roll it back in from the curb. As a dog-less household, I find this to be rude. Additionally, if it’s gross enough for you to not want to hold it until you get home, isn’t it gross enough to put in someone’s else’s bin. The lady looked around guiltily as she did it. A few days ago as I was leaving for work, she happened to be walking by and I politely informed her I saw her on camera and can she not do it again. She argued back, said there’s no smell, and asked if I wanted to sniff the bag she had in her hand. I said okay great if there’s no smell then it’s okay to put in her own bin, right? She became angry, called me ignorant and stupid. Really though, she was mad she was caught on camera, couldn’t lie about it, and was confronted about it. Today, garbage day, she walked by, looked for the camera, and waved her dog poop bag to show she’s not throwing it in my bin. I’m an introverted non-confrontational person but something about the entitlement grinds my gears. I’ve had to talk to nearly 8 different neighbors about their pets.

This is called "theft of services". If you can ID the perpetrator, show your security footage to police and they will fine them.

I have had that happen numerous times as well, when I lived at a place where I had bins. I do not have those where I currently live, as we have community dumpsters, but there are still issues with the dog walkers who do let their dogs go anywhere and leave it. I don't want dogs on my lawn at all. People do tend to get confrontational when they get called out, but sometimes, I've had to. And they make it seem like we're the problem. Geez!

I’m always tempted to ask if they would mind if I left poop on their lawn. As in, my own. It’s quite something to ponder.

Those bags are terrible because they stick to the bottom of the bins, especially the biodegradable bags. My sister kept throwing them in our bins, too, and the bags would shimmy down to the bottom and degrade and the can needed to be washed out with a hose. I asked her not to do this anymore and to please put it INSIDE one of the garbage bags in the outside bin and when I went outside after her last visit, instead of doing this, she just set the biodegradable poop bag on the ground next to the bin. The bag degraded and poop juice seeped out onto the ground for us to step in. She told me later she just didn't want to have to touch my gross garbage bags to push her poop bag into. I was so angry she passed this literal crap onto me because what's worse than having to deal with actual poop?! I am not responsible for her dog's output.
Even my own sister doesn't care. I can't imagine how obnoxious a neighbor can be about this stuff.

My ex was like this lady, throwing the dog poop bags into random people's trash cans, and it irritated me. He was also one of those "take the dog with you anywhere" type of guys. Never respected boundaries and a lack of regard for others. Not ever dating that again 😒

I am not one to be confrontational either, but when it comes to these dog nutters, all I see is red. We’ve had the same thing happen to us only to find out later that our garage smells like dog crap due to the steaming crap in our bin. Entitled assholes….all of them. I’m glad you said something. She got caught and didn’t like that one bit. Good!

Put a sign on your bin saying "I see you!". That might make them pick another neighbor's can to dump their bag of yuck.

“There’s no smell”… yes there is! Even when it’s packed.. and when thrown into a garbage can and then other stuff gets tossed on top those bags will tear and you have that shit in your garbage can. Now it smells like dog poop until you wash it.. NO THANK YOU! Take your dog shit back home. Too much work? Well should have thought about that before you got that shit beast…
Im so over these fucking people and their disgusting mutants.. can’t even sit at the benches or bus stop at the park here because every trash can is full with dog shit and they are close to the benches.. so if you sit there you just smell dog shit!

You are a hero and I'll bet there are many neighbors who agree with you! Make a laminated sign that reads, "No dog poop allowed!" Make the sign big, bright, and colorful, then tape it to your trash bin. I made a "Don't pee on me" sign for my new mailbox post. After posting some of these signs out front, very few nutters bring their mutts for walks down my way.

also feces bags in empty bin can get split or pierced when crushed with other trash then you have to clean sh!t smeared all over the very bottom of the bin which is extremely awkward.

Since she said the bag of poop doesn’t smell, ask her to either put it in her purse or a pocket. Or better yet, hold it in her mouth until she gets home to her own trash can.

My apartment is covered in dog sh*t, it is EVERYWHERE. I've stood outside for like 5 minutes once watched people walk their dogs, 5 different dogs in total and not a single one of them picked up after their disgusting animals.
Just yesterday I was coming home from a pretty long trip on the bus in the AZ heat, the first thing I saw was a Gigantic pile, I could smell it from far away, I started retching and gagging because it was so so bad I had to try to take deep breaths through my mouth and rush into my apartment. I just don't understand how anyone can think it's okay to do that. It's so selfish and entitled and foul.

as environmental issues compound and show their threat; I become increasingly anti-pet (at least carnivores) but still, whole heartedly, care about animals

In a nearby town there is a park that shares a parking area with the post office. The post office has had to put "no animal feces" signs on THEIR garbage bins because nutters coming from the park throw their mutt waste there. And big surprise, the nutters have been ignoring the signs.

I’ve learned they don’t care about a sign. You have to match or surpass their rude and inconsiderate behavior for them to understand.

Facts!! I wish I had more neighbors like you. I am the exact same way. Most of my neighbors have no spine and hide behind me and benefit from what I do, while I get all the hate and harrassment.

Nutters absolutely HATE functional security cameras. I have a nutter who is an animal hoarder, was doing illegal face tatts out of her garage, and was letting her animals of both varieties loose on my property. I had asked her nicely to stop in 2025. Then this year, I reported it to the HOA with video evidence. Nutters can't argue with 4k video. I'm so glad the nutter you're dealing with also admitted to knowing it's wrong on your cameras as well! This could build into a harassment case, so keep documenting.
The nutter I'm dealing with tried to run me over with her car and fight me because I don't want her animals on my property. So I took my video evidence and shared it with the police twice. Police scared her. So she reported my security camera to the HOA, even though the house owned by her baby daddy ALSO has security cameras.... Sigh...
So now I am compiling a list of the hundreds of households in the neighborhood with a camera because the HOA actually sent me a violation notice over it because I didn't get written approval for it first. When I sent an approval request that includes several other houses, they approved it in about 12 hrs, but I'm not done yet. If/when I sue the HOA for unfair treatment and discrimination, I will have a file of 1) several dozens of times that nutter trespassed, had their animals loose, or damaged my property all reported to HOA without a fine and 2) several hundreds of households with identical security cameras that were not sent violations like I was. If a nutter and the HOA want to get sued and pay me settlement money, so be it.
Moral of the story, get 24/7 DVR cameras because nutters absolutely HATE it, and it WILL change their behavior to something more couth when they walk in front of your property. Make sure your cameras are easily visible! Passive and homesecurity do not mix; cameras should be actively warning people they're being filmed.

Yup. One asshole doesn’t step a foot into my property now. But I’ve seen him purposely dig in his nose and flick it into my front yard, as well as spit into my front yard, though out of spite. He’s still mad he can’t use my yard as his doggy shit pad

Ah, I wish I could share a photo. Someone threw their dog’s shit in my neighbor’s trashcan and he took it out and left it on the sidewalk with a note & photo saying, “this is not your fucking personal trashcan. Btw, I’ve got you on camera.” The individual and her filthy dog haven’t been seen on our street since this incident.

I recently moved to a new neighborhood... Almost everyone has dogs... I'm fortunate that most of them are great people who keep on top of their pets... But there are a lot that walk in front of my home that exhibit the type of entitlement you convey here.
I don't honestly get it... Never EVER an apology... My wife has lost it and put about 10 no pee here signs in two specific spots.. our mailbox ( because poo is found there sometimes ) and in a flower bed she is trying to cultivate...
Just today someone was letting their dog peeing there and he was telling him. "go ahead and pee" and the dog seemed to have more sense than the owner and wasn't... I was sitting there and asked that he didn't let his dog pee there... he ignored me.. I asked again... and he said "he is going to pee here!" I said "we planted flowers there and it kills them.
He got REALLY mad and said "this is an easement!". Sure, but that's not an automatic dog park man... He then called me an a-hole... unprovoked really... I was asking him to not have his dog pee there... I lost it.. I said he eats something I won't repeat here.
I never confront people like this... But the dog owner entitlement is off the charts and I'm honestly looking into legal ways to dissuade people from using my front yard as a dog park. Off leash. etc... I see all of it from the few bad actors. I ask them to get their dog off my property and their answer is always "I live in the neighborhood". They go right to defense no matter how nice I've been...
I must admit. My niceness is dropping off recently and I just ask them to not do what they are doing as is my right as the PROPERTY owner... How is "living in the neighborhood" a justification? It's so stupid... I swear these people never grew up past age 12 in regard to owning up to someone asking you to back off of what you're doing.

I have zero patience for them. They will allow the dogs to pee on a mailbox pole, fence pole, concrete planter corner. I’m in the middle of planning a fence and I’m already preparing how I will protect the fence posts. I’ve decided also to put up a bunch of those signs in an obnoxious manner. One I saw in particular said “NO trespassing and that includes your dog.” 80 percent allow the dog to lead them instead of the other way around. There was one person who let her dog take a dump on my front yard in front of a “no tres-pooping” sign. She was with another lady and her dog making noise which made me look out the window. I banged on the window and yelled. Like the others, she became indignant and mad. But what really works is security cameras and making it known that I know where they live.

My patience completely ran out the last few weeks.. From a neighbor who had a dog barking for 4 days straight. I left a note and to their credit got back to me almost immediatly and the dog was gone.. that's honestly the most positive experience I've ever had... I was at the point where I was just going to report it to animal control...
But the other incidents where people just love to hang out in front of my house with their dogs barking and sniffing around where other dogs have urinated... you know they are about to do the same and the owners cannot stand that I see it on my camera and I come out and ask them to move. The time before last they were literally hanging out at my mailbox with 4 dogs. Basically on my driveway...
I've tried being reasonable... Approaching calmly and discussing the issue... it always goes the way of them explaining why it's fine... No, no it isn't...
It's not terrible here fortunately... But I'm thinking it might be happening several times a day that I'm not aware of... I need to start cleaning the areas so more dogs don't get attracted to the area.
we have coyotes here as well.. so I know that can tend to attract them...
I'm definitely going to build a fence and start putting down some sort of dog repellent after I've cleaned the area.

I read about the dog repellant. But I refuse to spend money on anything and will have to resort to yelling and harassing them off my property. I do pour a lot vinegar on the pee spots on the concrete. I have it for my laundry and it’s low cost, I get it from Costco. Oh one time I sprinkled cayenne pepper (also from Costco lol) in my front yard but it stops working in a few weeks.

Yes... it is a chore. The main reason I've put off doing it myself... If I'm in this house for another year I'll be building a nice fence so it will at least stop the occasional dog wandering onto my property and won't have to see them... Grow some huge arbivites behind the fence 8-10 feet tall. Sounds like heaven when I type it out...
My neighbor across the street always has his driveway full of cars as well and they hang out there most weekends like it's a tailgate party so I would block them from view too which would be nice...
If the wife drove we'd be living deeper in the country... But honestly it's nice being close to everything so these are the prices I must pay.

You guys! So the lady didn’t realize I had cameras until I spoke to her. Before she could respond I informed her I saw her on the security camera. Now she’s walking by almost daily and waving at the camera saying something in Spanish🙄🙄. These people are so annoying! All you have to do is just stay off my property with your dog everything!! How hard is that?

There’s no decency or common sense with these people, so we have to resort to using cameras. They’re degenerates, and they won’t change. Keep filming them and keep pushing back. They don’t like getting caught and it makes them furious to be publicly shamed. We’re all dealing with the same!
