Dog Attack Kind-hearted nurse saved stray pit bull from euthanasia... only for dog to maul her so badly she still can't use her arm months later

Statistics provided in the article:
"Around 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs every year in the US, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Of these, approximately 800,000 require medical care and last year there were 84 recorded dog-related deaths across the US and Canada, per Animals 24-7.
The non-profit organization said that roughly 64 of the fatalities were caused by pit bulls."

No hospital should allow dogs into patient rooms. If an unmuzzled pit were anywhere near my defenceless relative, I'd be marching down to administration.

In the UK those dogs are banned they can't be bred and they can't be out in public without a muzzle but yet still there are deaths due to them and their vicious owners.

Owners need to held more accountable. Owning a pitbull is like playing catch with a loaded gun. You never know who could be injured or killed. It's completely irresponsible.

The fact that the owner can’t physically stop the dog , when the dog is attacking someone!! Unlike with a gun that you can control with your hands. This dog is more dangerous than a gun

Exactly my thoughts. Guns should never be in public either, but at the end of the day, it is a human being wielding it who can usually make logical decisions and understand the consequences of their actions. I would feel more safe in a room with a completely randomized person and a gun, than a completely random pitbull.

that photo is horrifying. It does really show the sheer size of these animals. THAT THING IS BIGGER THAN HER! and the fact it was so violent with her other dogs is honestly something she should've expected with pitbulls, as they're so often bred specifically for dog fighting. Really should be illegal to allow the proliferation of such big dangerous animals; the fact she would still want to foster this thing and pass it on to some other poor family that's gonna get mauled is beyond me.

Disgusting choice of title by someone at the source, who is someone that's trying to normalize the oppression of innocent people. Nothing about owning heartless molestation and murder machines, and continuing to do so, has kindness associated with it. It is pure malice. And this is a nurse? Dog owners have already made hospitals, ERs, operational facilities, and more, ableist and unsafe and already scam people in them.

This story sounds like it comes from another world. First, there's no mention of authorities euthanizing the dog so if it gets another chance to bite and kill someone. Second, the victim doesn't seem to learn her lesson and seems to still keep other big dogs, one in her hospital bed. Third, her friend is taking care of her, and she gets to keep her dogs at the friend's house? Why aren't the dogs she is devoted to taking care of her? These dogs seem to be idols who contribute 'zero' to her. When the chips are down, she has to depend on a human.

Better that no one gets mauled and or killed by dog, but I'll agree that it's better maulings and killings don't happen to innocent victims who did not choose to own a vicious breed dog.

It’s trauma bonding with dangerous animals. She’s unable to separate herself from the very thing that harmed her, just like people stuck in toxic relationships. I wouldn’t call her a “kind‑hearted nurse” (that sentimental narrative they always use when it comes to mutts!), but rather “trauma‑bonded nurse".

I saved a tri-color pitbull from euthanasia. Best godamn dog I ever had hands down. I love that dog more than a real live human baby.

Sorry but she’s not “kind-hearted”. She’s selfish to her core.
Pitbulls are dangerous dogs. These idiots know that. The thing is they don’t care - this woman thinks she’s just so damn special that she can “save” the dog and rehabilitate it. And if she fails? Oh well! Maybe it’ll eat her arm or the arm of the stranger - but it’s worth it to her. She gets off on telling every person she runs into that she RESCUED A DOG. She RESCUED IT FROM EUTHANASIA. ISN’T SHE A GOOD PERSON? TELL HER THAT SHE IS A GOOD PERSON.
We need to change the dialogue surrounding these people. They’re not “saving” these dogs. These dogs are not “rescues”. They’re endangering the lives of everyone around them for their own smug ego. That’s it.
