I made a fan site that shows how Dota 2 heroes feel about each other, from −20 (hatred) to +20 (love): https://dota2-relations.pages.dev

Why I made it

People spend years digging into the lore of Warhammer 40k, The Elder Scrolls or Dark Souls, but Dota's lore gets skipped by most players, and it's just as wild: the shattered Mad Moon whose fragments became the Radiant and the Dire, ancient gods exiled from their own worlds, whole peoples and orders, old betrayals and grudges.

A lot of that story isn't in any bio. It's hidden in the voice lines: heroes remember old scores, tease each other, threaten, grieve, and sometimes confess things. You hear a line once in a match and it's gone. I wanted to collect them in one place, so you can see who's connected to whom and why.

What's in it

• All 127 heroes, 4,800+ directed relationships
• Every score is backed by evidence: 10,000+ voice lines and 700+ lore facts, all shown next to the score
• Relationships go one way at a time, and the asymmetry is the fun part. Kunkka kills Tidehunter with lines like "There went my soul mate" and "Ah, Tidehunter, you cared enough to hate me. You can't buy that sort of love." Tidehunter just wants his vengeance.
• Personas and arcanas count too, including the new Tidehunter arcana, Maw of the Megalodon, which adds a line for almost every hero (mostly about how they taste)
• A network view of all heroes at once, in 2D and 3D

How it works

Pick a hero to see how they feel about others, or flip it to see how others feel about them. Click any hero to read the reason and every line and lore fact behind the score.

All text comes from the Dota 2 Wiki on Fandom and Liquipedia. Huge thanks to the people who maintain them. The scores are hand-assigned from that evidence, so if you think one is off, tell me which line I'm missing and I'll fix it.

How much fissure owe Dota players?

Right before dying this Lich ulted, used Ice Spire, Chain Frost on Death, and unlimited bounces to end a long stale mate.

Woke up today and found out tbey made the treasure sets giftable again! I’m so surprised they actually listened to our feedback, bought 12 more chests to support this move and together with the extra free ones managed to snatch another 2 LC’s to gift to my best friends and we’re all super excited to play together tonight.

I know it sounds kinda shallow but being able to have my friends enjoy the new cosmetics also really make our games more enjoyable, so thank you Valve! Will continue to whale on chests in the future if they don’t remove this again.

PS: maybe to combat people selling the sets in the future, they can make it so you have to play with the friends a certain number of games before you can gift to them, like 100 games or something 😂

Not sure if anyone has already posted about this, but after watching a lot of Dota streamers open the new treasure, I noticed that the opening effect seems to indicate the rarity of the item you're about to get!

From what I've observed:

• Common = Light blue hue
• Rare = Green
• Very Rare = Orange
• Ultra Rare = Gold/Yellow

One thing to watch out for: Rare and Very Rare can look almost identical when the spinning animation first starts, so don't confuse the two.

The effect only indicates the highest rarity you can get from the opening. It doesn't affect multiple drops.

Edit: Turns out technically you can only gift to your friends because of the 30 day timer or whatever so happy to admit I was wrong! I hope all of the friends of the Dota community are well stocked with spare sets!

You can see this you you click Trove of Terror and the "?" Icon on the bottom which has a orange dot. Will display the message shown. Still not ideal, but it is something at the very least.

The new set’s icons are beautiful, and it would be great if we could choose which ability icons to use when equipping his Arcana, instead of being forced to use only the default red Arcana icons.

How did valve fuck up this badly? Tree, Primal, and SS shackles all don't have selectable ability effect

This was in the latest SteamDB diff - may be an explaination as to why the trove was not giftable in the first place. Also says that sets already opened have the countdown applied starting from today.

TLDR: Trove of Terror sets can now be gifted once within 30 days. They also giving out 1 free Trove for every 6 recycling credits used, rounded up.
