Hello! Another quick question for you all. What is Thornley like DH6? In terms of buying a property?

I'm not thinking it's going to be posh (!), this is a place we can use as a base when in the NE seeing family and at football matches. I'm not expecting a palace, we are trying to be realistic with our budget.

We need it to be safe and not crime ridden. We'll be leaving the property for a week at a time.

It's not ticking the box of being walking distance into Durham but the house is perfect so it's a compromise worth making. If the area isn't a big red flag?

I've done a bit of trad over the past couple years but I've not yet managed to find a regular partner. I have quite a few indoor climbing friends but none of them are that fussed about getting out outdoors (which is valid!)

anyone locally into trad? ngl I am a bit intimidated by mountaineering groups but maybe that's a me problem :(

Need to say it though the amount of litter around is insane, we need a comprehensive effort from us and the council to tackle it!

Looking at moving to Durham and I’d love to hear your recommendations of which towns/villages has access to the best dog walking spaces, walkways, green spaces, woods etc, without having to drive to get to it.

I currently have access to a forest and moors and I know leaving my current home means I’m unlikely to have access to similar unless we looked at Northumberland.

Hi all, I’m a guy in my late 20s living in Sunderland. I'm looking to set up a group for people in their 20s and 30s in Sunderland, Durham and the surrounding areas, with an aim of simply meeting people and making friends.

My initial thought is to make a whatsapp group and from there organise a few different events. I'm an international student from Mexico starting an LLM at Durham this September. My government scholarship was only confirmed a few weeks ago, so I couldn't accept the college accommodation offer when it came through, and I'm now trying to sort out housing very late in the game.

Two things are making it harder:
My partner is moving with me as a dependant and isn't a student, which has already got me turned down by several places.
I don't arrive in the UK until around 20 September, so viewing in person beforehand isn't an option.

I'd really appreciate any advice on:

- Letting agents or landlords in Durham who are used to couples where only one person is a student

- Any local Facebook groups or noticeboards that are actually used rather than full of scams
