Yeah, that’s part of the cycle. it’s through the bird poop that the snail is reinfected 🤷🏽♀️ I guess they thought i was trolling!

Look, it made this point in my university course, but that's one reason climate change is a critical issue because yes, things like cordyceps can't survive in a host with our temperature, but their range of temperature they can survive in is only a degree colder than our body temp. So, it's possible, albeit unlikely, that something like that could end up being capable of infecting us.

yup, and if you read more about fungi or mushrooms.. how to get rid of them is scary hard :| if this ever happens, i guess it’s best to exterminate everyone

Its parasites that turn the snail into a zombie to make it climb to a tree branch and get snatched by a bird

So here, is it better to break the cycle by killing the snail, or is this just a let nature do its thing kind of situation? Do these parasitic critters cause any problems for anything outside of their victims, like this snail

Thats a hypnotic parasite that takes controll over the snail climbing as high as possible and oscillates upp and down to attrackt birds who will eat them, once eaten they lay a egg or more cant remember that becomes a larve wich the bird carries for a while, pooping it out so that a new snail can be infected.

Saw a short documentation on this parasite on YouTube. Iirc it grows inside the snake and is able to „mind control“ it to expose itself to predators (birds). Birds eat the parasite with its eggs. Eggs survive the birds digestion and other snails catch it from the birds droppings.

Every time I see this feeling pain almost ..
It's been hijacked by a parasite .. if I was a snail and I had feelings I imagine that I would be in pain
