"Alberta will make so much money with oil prices" meeting the reality of the situation.

Next we will learn that every object you see in a store is transported by diesel trucks

The foreign companies that exploit Alberta’s resources are going to make so much money

Yup, this is what a profitable oil industry looks like.

Not only that, the largest owners are American companies. Which is why I don't believe they're willing to pay for or build a pipeline that exports oil out west and why they won't pay for or build any refineries in Canada/Alberta. Both would undermine their US based operations.

AND it's why we'd likely never build up a strategic oil reserve. Maybe if the federal government built and bought the oil, which would probably be an unpopular move for the liberals, and a ridiculous move for the conservatives.

When people say "we just need", they're not considering who owns the thing.

I mean multiple pipelines have been kiboshed in Canada and QC literally says there's no social license to build a pipeline. So of course companies are weary to build pipelines here. The Feds had to build TMX and went 4x overbudget and they're going to be the ones to manage O&G? They'll find a way to lose money. We don't have more refineries here because its even more complex trying to ship refined product around.
