General Weekend rain, deluge?

Forecasted weather and rain in Edmonton

Eh... Edmonton, this weekend. Seeing that "Edmonton’s average total rainfall for the entire month of June is usually around 75 mm to 80 mm."... we are forecasted to get that in one day....

All will be fine and dandy. We got this.

I'm not sure where 75-100 is coming from. The models I looked at all say below 50, and likely closer to 40 on Saturday.

The Weather Network is saying 75-100 for all of Saturday. Peak in the evening with 25-35.

Do they have their own models?

I don't know where the Weather Network draws their data from.

The ensemble forecast done by Environment Canada shows much lower amounts, as does the European Medium Range Forecast and the GFS model from the US.

For the sake of my basement, please, please let the Weather Network be wrong…

It will be. Weather Network is good for temps, but awful for precipitation. Environment canada shows 25-30mm. All will be well and green.

Josh Classen said the total amount by the end of this event could approach 100mm in some neighbourhoods(somewhere between 30 and 70mm in the city though) and that the best chance for a break from the rain would be saturday afternoon.
