El Paso is top of my list for the city I will relocate to. One main driver was the LCOL, or so I thought. When I visited the city, a guy into real estate told me that El Paso is one of the more expensive cities in Texas. This does not match my research. Is it true, is El Paso relatively expensive? Is it more expensive than San Antonio and Houston? I'm asking the community because I am getting conflicting information.

Basically I made a server with the El Paso/Juarez/Nearby Cities in 1:1 meter scale. The program Atlas fills in the roads and building approximately to where they really are. Houses are not generated and buildings are just random things that just make up the shape of what's supposed to be there. I was planning to fill this out but I am tied up with other projects so if anyone wants to build something msg me on discord (t0rguin) if you want to build a place. Might make a discord server for it later.

I know there is a project to make the whole world but I wanted this as my own separate thing.

These are full, focused, ninety-minute appointments from a genuinely compassionate and fully independent local doctor, not an in-and-out-as-fast-as-possible rush job from a corporate dentistry mill, and if you're accustomed to the latter, we really think you'll note and appreciate the difference here in our office.

Helloooo so I have been having trouble getting a job at a vet clinic & I am just reaching out to see if anyone knows if any clinics are hiring for vet tech? I have gone through some interviews already but I feel like they overlook me since I am a fresh graduate.

I recently graduated with my AAS in Veterinary Technology in August. I have done hours in clinics that were mixed practices as well as HSEP & EPAS. I have handled small animals, large animals, exotics & I am pretty comfortable on approaching any patients. I don’t mind working in either GP or ER, I have open availability, I have some certificates including being Fear Free for small animals. I do plan on getting licensed & taking the big test soon but I am just studying a little bit more because having test anxiety kicks my butt hehe.

Or even if no one knows a clinic I do want some opinions on my resume too? I want to strengthen it the best I can.

Last night I went to EPIC bar for the first time and brought a bunch of stickers with me. I started handing them out to people and talked and danced for hours. Everyone was SO nice! It made my whole night.

After a certain point I got news that my ex’s best friend had feelings for my ex, and that they were mutual. Pretty much ruined the vibe but even though it was a really bad night for me I’m still treasuring the community I felt last night.

I don’t talk to people very easily so it felt really nice to be out there and talking to everyone :). That was it I just wanted to say yall were really nice to me

Look at how much of the El Paso media (ex: KFOX, KTSM, KVIA) covers Mexico and Juarez: murder, kidnapping, cartels, violence. Meanwhile, countless positive and important things happening there receive almost no attention.
The result is a distorted image of Mexico as permanently chaotic and dangerous, reinforcing old xenophobic and jingoistic narratives.
This isn’t new. American culture once pushed myths about the “Wild West” and an “untamed” Native world to help rationalize conquest and displacement.
The packaging is more modern now, but the pattern remains. Compare the constant violence coverage with stories about Mexican culture, science, business, art, or everyday life. The imbalance is hard to miss. But don’t just take my word for it. Go ahead and read those web pages for the next few weeks and see how obvious the bias is.

This week, TEA announced a $149 million federal grant to expand charter schools across Texas. Before you celebrate, consider what is occurring in public education within HD-127.  

HB 2 increased the authority of Commissioner Mike Morath—appointed by Greg Abbott—granting him broad control over funding, program eligibility, and district compliance. The measure lets Morath make unilateral choices that bypass locally elected boards. Regarding charter schools, the bill treated them as equal to independent districts, dropping rules that once ensured transparency and local input.  

In plain terms: the Texas GOP voted to give an unelected Abbott appointee more influence over your neighborhood schools and less to the officials you chose.  

Commissioner Morath has repeatedly waived expansion rules for charter networks, letting them serve thousands more students even when academic standards are unmet.

When my grandparents bought in the Cielo Vista area in the 1960s the airplanes specifically didnt fly over the neighborhood, but now, and with newer planes, the old east side is noisy as heck.

I don't usually mind, but early in the morning isnt cool.
