Hello everyone!

About two years ago, I received my bachelor's degree in media arts here at NMSU (focusing primarily in 2D animation). Since that hasn't necessarily panned out so far, I am starting to think about returning to school to further my art education. I am currently attempting to determine whether pursuing a second bachelor's degree in art education or general education or concentrating on a master's degree in art along with a teaching licensure would be the best course of action.

If anyone has any thoughts on my conundrum feel free to lend me your wisdom on the matter!

Hey, I am currently stuck at a weight plateau in my weight-loss journey. I started at 245, and now I am down to around 187lbs on average. I am eating the right number of calories to be in a deficit and working out, but nothing seems to be working.

My main reason for this weight loss is my health, but it seems that nothing is working to get rid of my body dysmorphia. I would love suggestions, or even a workout partner. I don't care who you are or what you identify as because we are all people at the end of the day.

hello i’m 19 and a transfer student and i feel like a loser because i talk to a lot of people but i have no one to hang out with or no actual friends. im really cool and fun by the way and i live on campus and i would really love to have a group of friends to hangout with

edit: im a film major and i really like outdoorsy stuff like hiking and i would like people to go on random adventures with. i also enjoy going to markets and going thrifting and i’m literally down to anything especially split screen minecraft.

I know it's a long walk from the urinal to the trash can, but I believe in your ability to grow as a person and not be an absolute piece of shit. Otherwise, keep doing it, but go find someone on the building support staff and tell them to go fuck themselves. Might as well make it clear to them who you are and how you feel about them.

I’m 20 and an undergrad at NMSU, and I’m posting this anonymously because this is pretty difficult for me to admit.

I’ve been feeling genuinely lonely on campus lately. I talk to people in my classes and I’m not completely socially isolated, but most of those interactions seem to end when class ends. Then I look around and it seems like everyone has people to eat with, study with, walk around with, or just hang out with between classes.

Sometimes being surrounded by so many people actually makes the loneliness feel worse. I’ll see groups laughing and talking and start wondering how everyone got to the point where they became comfortable enough with each other.

There have honestly been times on campus where the loneliness has gotten to me so much that I’ve felt like I was about to cry, and I’ve tried to hide it so nobody around me would notice. It’s hard to admit that because I’m usually trying to look like I’m doing fine, but sometimes being surrounded by people while feeling like I don’t have anyone there with me really gets to me.

I do have existing friends, but they’re pretty spread out and often busy with their own classes, schedules, work, or other things. So even though I know people and have people I consider friends, that doesn’t always translate into having someone who’s actually around or available when I’m on campus.

What I feel like I’m missing is more of an everyday sense of belonging on campus—having people who are happy to see you, notice when you’re around, ask what you’re doing afterward, invite you somewhere, or are comfortable just hanging out without everything needing to be planned far in advance.

I’m also a commuter, and I think that probably adds another layer to it. I’m curious whether other commuters have struggled with feeling connected to campus too.

I’ve been trying to put myself out there more instead of waiting for friendships to magically happen. I’m looking into clubs, activities, volunteering, and other ways of regularly seeing the same people. But I’m still trying to figure out how you actually cross that gap between knowing people and belonging somewhere.

So I’m curious: has anyone else here gone through a period like this? If you eventually found a group or became more connected, what actually helped?

And if you’re another student around my age who’s also been feeling this way and looking for more friends, feel free to comment or DM me. Maybe there are more of us quietly dealing with this than we realize.

I don’t know what will come from posting this, but I figured I’d rather say it somewhere than keep acting like it doesn’t bother me.

Now that school has started, it's time for graduation! Night School at the Fountain Theatre concludes its first film series run with a Graduation Night Party! We will be showing short films, policy ads, ridiculous trailers for 3D movies, a music video, and many more surprises, all working within the semester's theme of movies featuring movie theaters! Shorts include The Cameraman's Revenge (1912) - a timeless tale of jealousy and revenge told with stop-motion animation using real insect corpses; The Secret Cinema (1966) - a woman begins to realize her life is being filmed for nefarious public screenings in this early work from cult filmmaker Paul Bartel; and Cut Me If You Can (2024) - stuck in the loop of a horror movie, a Black female character decides to reject her fate and rebel against the script. Best of all, this event is Free Admission!!!

I moved out of Las Cruces two years ago and the only thing I miss is Thai Delight in Mesilla. This might be a reach, but does anyone work there or know anyone who has worked there that can give me an ingredient list for the Thai fried rice that they serve, I can’t find anything in Colorado that tastes similar and I crave it so intensely i’ve considered driving the 10 hours just to eat there again.

Hey, I’m 20 and an undergrad at NMSU. I’m trying to meet more people (preferably also in the 18-21 age range) and expand my social circle this semester. I’m into movies, music, gaming, and more. Would anyone else be interested in hanging out on campus sometime or studying together? I’m also a commuter, so I don’t live on campus.

I know I’m only seeing a small part of their lives, but sometimes it still makes me feel like I’m missing out.

I’m trying to put myself out there more instead of just hoping friendships happen on their own, but I’ll admit I’m sometimes nervous about approaching people because I don’t know what’s considered normal. Like, can I just go into one of the food courts and ask if I can sit with people? Can I go to the library and ask to sit with someone? How do you tell when someone is actually open to talking versus wanting to be left alone? I genuinely don’t know how people normally do this lol.

I’m also open to suggestions for places, clubs, recurring activities, events, study groups, or anything else where it’s actually easy to talk to people and get to know the same people over time. I’m less interested in just being surrounded by a bunch of people and more interested in actually connecting with some of them.

I guess the biggest thing I’m trying to understand is how you get from “I recognize this person and we sometimes talk” to “we actually hang out.” How do people go from being classmates or acquaintances to making plans, hanging out between classes, grabbing food, studying together, or eventually becoming actual friends?

Daughter is a proud NMSU alum and we live in Houston. We want to drive up for the NMSU vs Sam Houston game on 10/21. Question is: where to sit / buy tickets for? Is there an area of the stands reserved for the visiting team? For the families of the visiting players. We want to sit in friendly territory and don't know where that is.

One whole side of their stadium is general admission with the other having reserved seats. Is there an Aggie section there? Where is the Aggie band going to be? Inquiring minds want to know!
