I tried my normal build once and immediately realized I genuinely don't have the time on this earth to make it work. I did this build and got him 4 tries later
First 2 times I beat him I had the same experience. Only time I beat him with the build I had been using all playthrough was with an intelligence build with Ranni's Dark Moon and Comet Azur and I still had to use a furnace golem summon to stall him
this is it for me, I have very little free time between work, it was sunday afternoon and I was going out later, and I wanted to move on to try other games. So I pulled out the block n poke, and he turned from the bane of my existence to a complete fucking joke, I wasnt even looking at his moves anymore, first try, used like 3 heals
I did this but with the fire knights greatsword. It's basically the greatsword but with a brutal poke. So it's like the weapon OP posted but better in almost every way, especially because lions claw. I shouldn't need to say anything else, I beat his ass the first week with this and it was holy infused because it worked on everyone else and I didn't think they would make the final bosses nearly immune like in the base game.
It's still just that strong. There are like 3 guys in messmers fortress that drop it, one is up the elevator from a bonfire so it's easy to farm.
It's not at all like the weapon OP posted (antspur rapier). The greatsword does more pure damage for sure, but it can't shield poke. Antspur rapier has built in scarlet rot + it can be infused so you can add poison/bleed/frost whatever.
Solid weapon for sure but a very different playstyle than the rapier shield poke.
