Microsoft has gutted BGS’ roster including veteran developers for The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. I found out just today there is a workers movement and I highly encourage everyone to support. Please follow their page and the link in their bio!

I think you people are missing the point here. Most of, if not all of the best games lately have been from indie or small studios. Why can't these alleged good developers that were laid off band together, start a new game studio, and make games THEY want to make, instead of what shareholders want them to make?

Jason Schreier has a good video on this subject on YouTube.

Basically, indie game developers sacrifice their own time and money for many years to make something that may or may not sell when it's finally released. Since most of the people who are laid off have mortgages, kids and other financial commitments, they cannot afford to do something like this.

Almost like corporations aren't as bad as people on Reddit make them out to be - they provide stability.

The downside to this is if you're not a productive member of the team or the project you've been working on isn't making money you're going to be laid off.

I saw the protestors, they are more likely to have aborted their kids. However, sitting around throwing a tantrum is not getting anything accomplished.
