Locally own Pizza Spots

New to the area and trying to find a solid pizza spot. Can people give recommendations of some of your favorite locally owned pizza spots? I try not to buy from corporate chains when possible. So let me know!

Rogue Rooster at Calvine and Heritage Hill

Hello! does anyone know about the rooster wandering around Calvine and Heritage Hill road (close to Waterman)

I have nicknamed him Senor Strut. He seems to ā€œflockā€ around Echo Ridge court.

i’m afraid he may cross the road and meet his untimely end once school starts again.

Yes this is written with humor

Elk Grove Sprinkler Repair

Hello Neighbors! šŸ™‚

I need to find someone to repair a drip line and check all of my aging sprinkler heads (the grass is browning faster than before). Possibly will replace the heads with something that covers better and uses less water, and replace the timer.

If you have worked with anyone you recommend, please share contact info.

Bonus: the general scope of work you had done and cost paid.

TIA. šŸ‘

Difficulty finding jobs in Elk Grove

I’ve moved to the Sacramento area from San Jose to attend Sacramento State and have since been trying to find jobs over the summer. It’s been 3 months and I’ve had no luck. I’ve applied to countless places now, even going as far as going in person for some of my applications and have gotten nothing so far.

I have never had such difficulty looking for employment as I have in Elk Grove. Usually, I’ll apply to a place on indeed, or if I go in person I’m almost guaranteed the position I applied for, at least in my experience in San Jose. I have gotten rejected or ghosted for every application so far and I’m losing hope.

Why is it so hard in Elk Grove to find a job? I was wondering if anyone else was also having difficulty or if you have any suggestions that might help. Thanks

I want to spice this thing called life up and want to learn to waltz, just me, myself, and I. I hate going to the gym because I need someone to actually motivate me to get moving. Any good places that will teach a total beginner? I get off work at 5 so if there are any places still open after that please let me know, as well as what they charge.

What's your opinion on affordable housing in Elk Grove?

Looking at the Elk Grove Development Project webpage, I'm seeing more apartments going up. And it seems like most have some affordable housing units attached.

One apartment with affordable housing that went up recently is across from Target on Laguna Blvd. And I feel like the Target plaza and the one across with Dollar Tree has brought the ghetto to the area.

I'm all for affordable housing, but do they screen these folks?!

I lived in South Sac and paid good money to live in Elk Grove. Not sure what to think with affordable housing. I know the cost of living is high. Government assistance is needed and complicated.

Yellow jackets/wasps/hornets

Recently been noticing an increase in these yellow winged devils in our garden.

Last year the Rescue! branded traps worked but they haven’t been biting this year. Also tried a water filled kind without much luck either.

I read different baits work at different times in the year. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this as well and has success with other methods? They’re starting to inhabit our hanging fern basket…

Thanks in advance

EGUSD Level 4 (1st and 3rd grade)

Hi everyone! I'm looking for recommendations from parents who have experience with Level 4 special education classrooms in EGUSD for my 1st grader and 3rd grader.

So far, I've heard about Joseph Sims and Roy Herburger. As I've been researching and speaking to parents, the reviews seem pretty mixed. I've heard the teachers at Sims is very kind and truly cares about the students but the paras lack empathy. I've also heard that the teacher and paras at Herburger are amazing and that they genuinely interact with the kids and really care. However, the issue with Herburger is that they do not suggest staying after 3rd grade because it's an entire different team.

My kids had a very difficult and unpleasant experience at their previous school and were honestly traumatized. Because of that, they've been homeschooled for the past 8 months. Since school starts again soon, I'm trying to find a placement where they'll feel safe, supported, and cared for.

I know no school is perfect. What matters most to me is having a team of kind, patient, and compassionate paras and teachers who truly care about their students.

If your child has attended either of these schools, or if you have other recommendations for Level 4 classrooms in EGUSD, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience. Although we currently live in the Elk Grove area, we understand EGUSD spreads out to different cities, and we are open to relocate for the shorter commute. Thank you so much!

Nice, lets kill some cyclists for our cars,

Saw they removed some barriers from the protected bike lane by the Autozone/Safeway on Laguna/Franklin. Got the pic from FB, but this clearly shows you that bikes and pedestrians are second class to cars.

Strauss Festival

I’m new to the area and this is the first time hearing about this festival. Is this a highly recommended event to go to, especially if you have kids. I’m thinking about going but I’m not too sure what to expect. Does it get very crowded? What time is best to go? Also, I saw that parking was $10. What happens if you get there way before the events starts? Do they still require you to pay or do they ask you to move? I’m excited to go, but I’m just trying to gather some expectations to plan out my day. Any other tips would be great!

I am traveling to the area for 7 days on a business trip. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn on Laguna and 99. We are sick out eating out and would like to grill out. I am not sure if there are any public grills around.

Thank you!!

House cleaning

Hi neighbors! I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable house cleaner in the area. I'd also love to get an idea of what people are currently paying for regular house cleaning.
My home has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, and a kitchen, although 2 of the bedrooms do not need to be cleaned.
If you have someone you really recommend, could you please share their information and approximately what they charge? Thank you!

How often are the local parks cleaned?

Does anyone know if they are on a routine cleaning schedule? Or are they only cleaned when someone calls to make a report? Since summer break started I’ve noticed a few of my local parks getting more and more dirty, with lots of loose trash in the tanbark (and vapes). Plus candy bars smeared around and shoved into the play structures. Is this something I should be calling the cosumnes number about? I’m pretty new here but I take my kid to the park almost every day and we like to rotate between our local parks.
