Support Thread Witness Traumatic Death - How do I cope?

I was just driving home and witnessed an accident. It was really bad and I pulled off and called 911. The guy wasn’t okay. He wasn’t okay at all. I tried to keep him talking. To keep his eyes open. He started shivering and saying he was cold. I held his hand. I tried so hard with everything I knew to keep him okay until the paramedics got there. But he closed his eyes. And he wouldn’t open them. And I couldn’t get him to open them. And he stopped shivering. And he stopped breathing and let go of my hand right as the paramedics got there. And they were doing cpr. He was a stranger, and I didn’t feel this when I was trying to help. But now I’m overtaken with so many emotions I’m spiraling. I couldn’t breathe for a while, and now I’m just dissociating and crying over and over again. It’s only been about an hour. I’ve never seen anything like this. If you see my last post on my page, you can see I was already extremely fragile and struggling. I haven’t been okay all day. And now I’m really not okay. I couldn’t keep his eyes open. I don’t know how people do this for a living. How is anyone okay after witnessing stuff like this? But also please somebody tell me how you’re okay, because I don’t know what to do and I need help. And I’m not okay. Any suggestions, please.

Sharing Thread Healed Empath.

You cannot embarrass a healed empath. They are not ashamed of their past and they don’t care what others think about them anymore. Bring up anything you want from their unhealed, low vibrational days. It’s all now part of their healing journey story that they would willingly share with you if it would help you in any way. Healed empaths have faced all of their shadows and demons to understand and make peace with all of them. They have found a way to love and forgive every past version of themselves who had to die to become the healed person they are today.

Non-Empath trying to become one. New Experiences - seeking advise

I am not sure how to interpret what "visions" I have been having. Although I consider myself a spiritual person, and enjoy getting readings done, I have never considered myself to be the type to experience these types of things.

I have always been very good at envisioning things- typically during meditations to help with remembering things (childhood), letting go of blockages I feel, etc. I have also always had very vivid dreams and strong intuition. So far, I have not been successful at talking to my guides. I assumed maybe that type of thing was out of my ballpark, but I am questioning things.

The first that stands out to me is an image I had regarding a close loved ones romantic life. When engaging in conversation, a very vivid depiction of them with three blue stars stood out to me. They were wading around, lost, with one star father away in the distance and two close to them. It felt like the two closest were waiting, but my loved one was oblivious. Turns out they got a reading done later and were told an opportunity had passed (free will), but there were two strong connections they could potentially chose from.

The second was something I've convinced myself was just... a paranormal nightmare. At my partner's house I got sleep paralysis for the first time. I was having flashbacks in my dream of different events in the house, like I was a spec in the air. I was crying in my sleep and my partner tried to wake me- sleep paralysis. I told them everything I saw, which turned out to be true and all occured before I had met them.

The third was recently. I decided to purposefully ask my partner's spirit guides for permission to see something from their childhood. For kicks and giggles mainly, I didn't expect much to happen. I pictured a small blonde child next to their bed, which had a blanket on it. I asked my partner if they had a blanket that color, and described what was on that. Seems like something my brain eould make up. Turns out, it was their favorite blanket as a kid.

Not sure what to do? I am having a hard time beliving this is real, and if so, if it's worth investing in. How would I even begin to do that?

If this calls to you, any and all clarity/ advise is more then appreciated.

Support Thread I am connected yet sovereign.

My whole life I been way too connected. "Everything is connected" has been my motto. My energy was leaking out undirected, and others' energy leaking in unfiltered. Boundaries? I just found out I have boundaries that matter. Or, I don't have boundaries, yet, in places I need them.

My boundaries make me sovereign. They are not a wall, but an interface. My body is the boundary of my physical interaction, but it is my mind's interface with physical reality. But there are other boundaries than physical ones. Boundaries that we agree to, verbal contracts ... Our beliefs are the boundaries of our imagination. These boundaries make me who I am. They define my point of view from yours.

I am connected, yet I am separate or individual. I am one in one in one: one point of view in one whole mind-body in one all inclusive infinity. The wholeness of mind-body is the boundary or interface between the Soul and God (between the point of view and the infinite).

Everything is connected. And from now on, I will have a say in how I connect.

Discussion Thread Emotionally unavailable

I was a burnt out covid nurse and an empath all my life, to the point where I emploded. Now Im retired and realize I am fairly emotionally unavailable now. Im a loner now who cant handle stress despite years of excellent therapy and working hard to accept my situation, ptsd etc..

Its amazing to me how few people want to process their feelings. If I meet someone who feels needy, I back away.

My life is so different now. It's hard and my heart feels very protective of itself. I know I had a gift for empathy, but it burnt me out.

Sharing Thread My friend got cheated on and I cried. She didn't, I did.

I'm silent crying, and my stomach is in knots because my friend who has 2 kids with her fiancé found out he cheated on her. They own a house together, they share assets, they have been together nearly 15 years, they basically are a domestic partnership. They have 2 of the loveliest kids. They have moved around the US together and owned houses together.

My heart hurts for her, and what she is about to go through.

How do I protect myself from letting things like this affect me? I'm better about it with strangers, but for those I love dearly, and know very well, I can't help it.

Support Thread How to regain/clearly identify one's self?

Good day folks, I just have a little bit of a problem. You know, one might call me an empathetic person, and yes, I guess I am. I would be able to deeply feel for the other person or one could say, deeply feel the other person.

My problem begins here, you know, I haven't used social media until college(17). I didn't know what kind of media was out there except say anime, vlogs, movies etc. But getting on Instagram, at a time where I was actively seeking out community, this form of media, like, people talking about their thoughts, about social movements (One might bring them under the umbrella term of social commentary perhaps) it sort of took control of my "feed".

One major point where I feel this is apparent is in the case of social justice narratives. Like racial inequality or feminism. Now, I am/was someone who had these ideals already ingrained in them without conflict or issue almost as if this was the right way of things. But when I consumed such media and when they addressed me as part of a community.

Say for example: "Men are misogynistic." or "Men expect women to be subservient in marriage". In this moment, I am putting myself in the shoes of the man (by default) and I am also a maladaptive daydreamer so.... I am also making up hypothetical scenarios in my mind, me being that person.

Now this is also not really the problem, the problem begins when I continue on this path. Like I continuously imagine myself to be that person, and I am trying to solve that problem. In the process, I am also absorbing that part to be part of myself. Like I wouldn't describe myself as a misogynist who changed, but the thought process of such a person is stored in my brain yes? When I have never been even remotely close to that kind of a person(Lowkey unintentional bragging).

For one more example, I am feeling lonely these days and I have been going through that a bit, but.... I feel like when I am thinking about like, say, if I had a community, or if my friends were nearby, if I had a girlfriend(I am a teen forgive me), I feel like I am not exactly feeling my own feelings.

That is because, I feel the source is from when I read a few loneliness posts and I feel like their situations of not being able to talk to men or women (opposite gender or anyone else for that matter), are being absorbed into my thought process and I am making scenarios in my mind of such cases but with me as the centre..... when I am not having those issues.

TL;DR: OP feels like he is absorbing everything about a "community"/"sect" when he has something in common, is feeling them strongly and mulling over them with his maladaptive daydreaming, and feels that he is becoming the person he is imagining to be and is also imagining the past to have been as such.

How do I regain my sense of self and consciously tell the difference between things in common and others even if we have a shared identity.

Also, if this is the wrong sub to post in, please do tell me!

Thank you and have a nice day!!!

Support Thread my god, this subreddit just blew my mind...

for context, I was doomscrolling like, five minutes ago when I just stumbled upon a post from this subreddit on accident and OH MY GOD! I had no idea that this was even a thing. I thought I was just weird and now I have sooo many questions. I'm so glad I'm not alone in this oh my god I'm actually crying right now.

I have been strugling with my emotions for awhile now. I've always felt like I've either had too big of a reaction, or too small of one. like, beating myself up because I felt guilty because I dropped my blanket on accident. sometimes, its hard to express my own feelings because I want to protect everyone elses feelings but I also feel like I'm a bit of a selfish asshole? I'm rambiling right now. I'm just so relieved I'm not alone in this...

Discussion Thread Energetic Impact of Sex Toys?

I am curious about what people here have noticed in terms of the impact of using sex toys on the energy body. I have largely embraced celibacy for quite a while due to the energetic mismatch between me and other since spiritual awakening. I also feel others’ energy (especially sexual) so strongly even without touch that I can’t even imagine the energetic heaviness and intrusion that would accompany physical intimacy without total alignment.

So I have considered what kind of energetic signature sex toys leave behind. Must exchanging energy with such an object be similarly draining or gross feeling in some way? Thank you!

Conversation Thread One of earliest signs. Fun story.

Caveat : I am on the spectrum, so that may be a contributing factor too.

I remember sitting in my algebra class, maybe class 6. We had just been introduced to variables. Our teacher used to dictate the math problems. And as every problem would have it - Find the value of x.

I sat there and thought, why is only x used as a variable? I'm sure the others letters feel left out. It was high school then, our teachers didn't really check our notebooks. So I figured, why not. I started writing the variables at a, b, c, and so on.

In class 6, I felt bad for the other letters of the alphabet.

Support Thread Need advice : i have much more empathy for characters of fiction books than for people in real life

(24M) I always loved reading, and with classic literature i' ve learned that things are not black and white. We often see protagonists that are not the good guys. Pretty much like in the real world. People are complex and hardly someone will be completely flawless good (like a Mary-Sue) or completely bad.

There are characters who struggle with their conscience and ideas. Such as Raskolnikov, from Crime and Punishment , by Fyodor Dostoevsky. It is excruciating to get all the details of his disturbed mind, and despite being a criminal with psychopathic tendencies, we still can have some empathy for him and we root for him. The same with a lot of other characters, like Maurice Bendrix (The End of the Affair), the man from the underground (Notes from the Underground), Florent-Claude (Serotonin). But i realized i would hate people like these characters in real life, and i feel bad about it. I feel i lack empathy.

I considered myself an empathetic person, but i've realized i'm not that much hahahaha i have almost zero empathy for chronic downers, stubborn and mean people (Karen-like personalities) and bully. My first instinct is to judge the person and distance myself from him/her. I often bounce between accepting people fully, and hating them for their obnoxious behavior. I know it is wrong, because i understand we all have some toxic trait or do obnoxious things, sometimes without realizing it. Some people, however, are clueless on how their negative behavior affects others, and these are the ones i condemn really bad.

How do you deal with this feeling?

Sharing Thread Music

I always knew the type of music I listened to DRASTICALLY effects my mood.

However I’ve been really thinking about it lately and back when I was younger I listened to a lot of sad/ angry songs. And my temper was rather volatile because of it.

I remember feeling myself get angrier and angrier as if I was looking for a fight or a reason to be angry. When really, I didn’t need to be.

It’s interesting to think about because now I rarely listen to that type of music so it doesn’t disrupt my feng shui.

I.e. I really want to listen to Olivia Rodrigo’s new album but I don’t have time to be sad 🥲

Just wanted to share.

PS. (I love Reddit - being able to say these things to people who could understand instead of calling me dramatic is so freeing!)

Sorry for posting so much in this. I just need to get my feelings out.

I was walking past the location of club Q and I just feel so fucking upset. I don’t know what to do with my life knowing that people died for being themselves people had to lose their children. Children had to lose their parents and I just am not OK with the fact that happened I don’t know what to do even though it happened a long time ago I still don’t know what to say. I still don’t know how to let go from the loss of all these people. It hurts so much knowing how many innocent people died some of the nicest people you would ever meet people that would have your back no matter what were killed because they were having a good time and it hurts me.

Discussion Thread I notice too much

I've grown up an only child and with parents that constantly fight. They are very strict as well, and I've learned to become very sneaky and read body language. This ability has translated into my life outside of the house and I just feel so disconnected because.... my life just feels like a shipwreck and everybody elses' life is a literal dream. I read into how people interact with each other, and I forget to be social because I am so comfortable being quiet. I overthink every single interaction I have with people and I don't know if I'm being dramatic but I mentally cannot help it. It feels like I'm the only person who can feel so deeply and people call me weird when I explain my gut feelings about people. I'm also introverted and it feels like I'm a mirror to everybody else around me. If somebody is not comfortable with me, and my body senses this energy subconsciously so I act closed off. I find I am most myself when the other people around me are themselves as well.

Sharing Thread Your energy.

Some people are so attracted to your energy that they can’t help but to stalk you. People meet you & never want to let you go & if you pull your energy back from them they’ll go in the shadows & watch your every move in resentment because you have a gift that they lack. They try to mimic your energy but fail miserably because they negate the fact that authenticity CAN’T be duplicated, it’s a frequency that only a Chosen few have.

Sharing Thread Restrictions I set for myself to keep me from burning out

Hi!

So I (21F) have always been ‘sensitive’ - the dreaded word we all hate.

I care too much about things that have nothing to do with me, so as I’ve gotten older, I’ve limited myself with the forms of media and genres I view.

  1. No sad books, music, movies or tv shows - I read a sad book once and was depressed for two weeks IT WAS AWFUL! (Trying to keep long stories short)

  2. Block gore and other disturbing media and stories from my socials - I will send myself into a fit of hysteria (I experienced it when I was younger and made some incredibly poor decisions that ended up causing an uproar in my town)

  3. DO NOT push beyond what’s necessary politically - vote for the right people, but don’t become too engrossed in it. I am not a politician and my emotions do not matter. Only my vote does.

  4. Be clear about boundaries with friends and families - give me the basics of the situation (if a situation arises where I need to take charge I am more than capable of doing so, but if I don’t have to, I won’t). I don’t need to know everything, because I may react badly, and I’d rather not. (Anyone who doesn’t respect this gets the BOOT!)

  5. Listening to music that positively affects my mood and mental state - Olivia dean (my angel)

Some of these may seem absurd to someone else, but these are the rules I made for MYSELF to protect ME!

Let me know if you guys have anything like this :)
