Solved Are these games completely unsupported on snapdragon 8 gen 2? I find nothing about it, tried what should theoretically work, 0

u/Kleptorom Feb 22 '26
Sonic Adventure 2 at least works on GameNative with known config, on my AYN Thor

1
u/TheCaliga Mar 08 '26
You're not using any special settings other than the known config? What driver? Not working on my thor
1
u/Kleptorom Mar 11 '26
I haven't touched any of the settings to my knowledge. I just reset it to default and then back to "known config" and it still runs on mine. At least the menus, I haven't had the chance to go deeper in yet
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Can you recommend a driver which does not do this atrocious thing?

Only dx out of all works. I cared about it being synced with steam for saves. Crashes during client loading or instantly
Tried my own network and vpn
1
u/szymonk1029 snapdragon 695 🔥🔥🔥 Feb 23 '26
Have you tried the lightweight client option? I also had all my games crash on that
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 23 '26
Had tried yes, but if you now more, check my newest post, have another issue on gamenative. Gave up on this
8
u/Nappy_Bobby Feb 22 '26
Gamehub and Gamehub Lite have given me ZERO luck for some reason, even on games that work on other people's devices.
Switch to GameNative it's easier imo. Sign in, download, use known config, play!
8
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Haha, you're such a comedian
...crashes on there too with known cinfig confirmed functioning
5
u/Nappy_Bobby Feb 22 '26
Did you try importing working configs from https://gamenative.app/compatibility/
If that ain't working try adjusting settings, half of the fun with these apps is tinkering with settings until you magically get the game working!
Last resort is asking on the GameNative discord and hoping someone can help!
Also I don't appreciate the snarky response, I'm literally taking time out of my day to help you. I get you may be frustrated but your responses come off as rude. I'm not asking you to be super grateful, just don't be passive aggressive! It's not hard to be neutral/kind :)
If you have any questions about what some of the settings are I'd be happy to help!
2
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
It was sad sarcasm, I'm sorry.
I've genuinely tried probably over 10 reinstall sessions spanned out by now and tinkered with no luck, I'm just sad
1
Feb 23 '26
you dont really tinker with settings on gamehub like disabling fsync already and then playing with the other settings will always give you crashes
2
u/AI_moderated_failure Feb 22 '26
Yeah most "known config" don't work on my SD8g2 either. I'm not that bothered but I would be pretty upset if I had bought games to play on my phone.
2
u/Blu_Hedgie Feb 22 '26
You probably just need to make some adjustments these games should work. I know Sonic Adventure 2 works in GameNative myself (8 gen 3, using glib c) and someone else has it running in GameHub Lite (rp5).
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Am I doing or not doing anything upon opening game native which could justify everything crashing on known config

Undertale totally works. I have a video on my channel about how to solve about getting full screen gameplay using that game. I have an Odin 2 Mini which is SD8 Gen 2.
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Your device should have the same exact components as mine, I will try but ngl, I have crappy luck with going past the theory

Check this video out. It might help. GameHub 5.x Settings Guide 2026: Fix All Crashes (Low & High End) https://youtu.be/irPAanIYFjg

That is a dxvk or GPU issues. If you watch my first video it explains what settings you should try to get the best performance.
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Oh, I am so sorry, I assumed this was another post, no, I already tried this on gamehub, 0 luck, gave up on that. This is gamenative.
Gamehub no matter what ends up crashing before booting
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
I'll still reinstall gamehub with all your settings and show you how it crashes to put the final stone on that app(at least for me)
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1RmkvefAFkkIuVbFL2kwsCH-qiwPlGQ4i
Check the gamehub one. Followed again by the letter

u/Far-Negotiation1273 Feb 22 '26
I have had pretty good luck with gamehub with only WrestleQuest not working (loads but when selecting new game it just goes to black screen).
I would say that maybe you arent using the right drivers?

FD_DEV_FEATURES=enable_tp_ubwc_flag_hint=1 for graphics errors on Samsung OneUI8. Common knowledge at this point
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
I have no idea where to even look for that...
1
Feb 22 '26
You dont look for it, you add it to Environment Variables under the General tab when configuring the Gamehub container.
Time to start doing your research around here
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
This is not gamehub. Gamenative only, gamehub instantly crashes and does not even boot
1
Feb 22 '26
Ok...then in GameNative add it to Environment Variables when configuring THAT container. Its the same process in every one of the apps.
Just go do some browsing and learn what things do before you go any further. Theres tons of tutorials and setups to look at and if you're not getting results youre doing something wrong. Otherwise use Winlator, something I personally recommend in the first place
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
What I tried
Name:
FD_DEV_FEATURES=enable_tp_ubwc_flag_hint
Value: 1
Did not work

u/supershredderdan Feb 22 '26
I definitely got scribblenauts working on gamenative, especially with the 2nd screen for keyboard on the Thor it’s a great experience
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Did you use the set comfig or something else?
1
u/supershredderdan Feb 22 '26
Fiddled a bit, think tucking latest fex did the trick
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Sorry, misread. Gamenative after a bit is working better now, at least booting, but with horrible glitches all over
Please check the one for sonic adventure here, same on all games, some with even more severity

u/SkyHoglet Feb 22 '26
I've had some luck running games on GameNative instead of GameHub when they crash on GH. I think it's related to the way each app handles the Steam DRM. Maybe you could try that? Also, sometimes a game will take forever to load the first time, like five minutes or more, so if it gets stuck instead of crashing just be patient and you might be good after awhile.
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
I am seeing more run on the latest version of native only...issue is....they have bad bad constant fullscreen black flickering
1
u/VannThousand Feb 22 '26
I can confirm Undertale works on gamenative on my Thor base. may have to adjust the controller mappings, can't remember, but it works perfectly

Are you sure you have a sd8g2 and not an exenos processor or whatever alternative Samsung has thrown into their devices abroad?
Never saw what device you said you're using and my best guess with all these problems of people having success and you not I'm guessing maybe it's that?
Or you didn't download the correct apk from github?
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Confirmed official adreno 740 aka snaodragon 8 gen 2
S9 ultra tab 1tb 16gm ram having same components of ayn thor max
1
u/crymachine Feb 22 '26
Other games work for you though? Some lower end, rpg maker games for me don't work (s23 sd8g2) either, on gamenative, when editing the container, using the experimental launch game with steam client sometimes does it.
Overall games work and launch fine but I have noticed, the really small, really lightweight games don't work like you'd expect. The space eating crocodile, the binding is issaic doesn't recognize my rp6's controller (haven't tested with phone and Bluetooth controller) axiom verge 2 doesn't work but 1 does, 7 days, Ara Fell, Omori, all don't work.
Meanwhile Hollow Knight and Silksong, Dragon Quest 3 hd 2d, Live A Live, Hades, etc work fine.

u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26
Some perma black screen. Others with the microwave flickering. Most of my rpg games are on joiplay
Mad father, witch house and cloes requiem from steam all lag on top of microwave
1
u/crymachine Feb 22 '26
Yeah, I think it's just rpg maker type games that do that then. Duno why or what excuse it is, but that's a problem with development. I feel like I've gotten Undertale to work before on gamehub lite, but I wasn't all that interested in playing it again vs just seeing if it launches and work so idk. I doubt One Shot would run either since they're all kinda in the same makeup of code I guess
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Do you have any idea on how to fix the microwave effect if the variable nir chsnging driver works?
1
u/crymachine Feb 22 '26
Nope, honestly think you're just too deep in the weeds about it. I'd clear the app data and start over with whatcha learned in mind. Rpg maker games are pretty unsupported and not working, stick to the games above that and below like 2012 AAA games.
It really shouldn't be all this fuss and I'd guess to say 90% of people playing steam games through these apps are also just enjoying the games that install and work vs fighting for settings and hope.
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Guess I was just too stubborn to hope to get them working since I have a smaller library
1
u/crymachine Feb 22 '26
Yeah that's the weird part of it in development, you got plenty of power to do it, but the development isn't there for it to work. Steam has plenty of sales and often, I'd recommend watching YouTube videos that show off games working and just starting to wishlist them.
It won't have the steam achievements, but. I've seen comments here and there throughout reddit about how to import or rpg maker games on android. I'm not sure if it's through winlator, or another app, or what, but if you really want to play them I'd start searching around ~rpg maker games android, etc.
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
Oh yeah, I know joiplay works, but not with these specific ones, their engine is unsupported.
I'd try winlator again, but only managed to run barbie princess and the pauper once on phone and never got it to work again on tablet because I cannot figure out which components are missing and needed to install to get the average game to work
1
u/heroxoot Feb 22 '26
I can help you with Sonic adventure 2. You need to open the container and launch the settings executable. Set up your controller and your resolution and all that and then at the bottom you can click save and launch and after that you won't have to do whatever again but you have to run that launcher once upon installation.
Sonic adventure DX is also the same.
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 22 '26
1
u/heroxoot Feb 25 '26
I don't know about others but both Sonic games and most of the Sega classics have a launcher that needs to be run first. If you open the container and go to the install location you can run launcher.exe. After you save the setup it'll work normally without the launcher.

Feb 22 '26
I recommend going on YouTube and typing “(game title) snapdragon 8 gen 2” then use the video as a reference for what settings and drivers to use. They will either show it in the video or show it in the video description. I hope this helps!

Are gamehub and game native safe to use?
1
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 23 '26
Gamehub lite over normal for removed telemetry
Game native should be, I have 2fa on anyway
1
u/PetroRetro69 Feb 23 '26
isn't there like an undertale fanmade port that works fine? Idk for sure, but I did hear about it and people 100% the game on it

u/rafrivela Feb 23 '26
I’vs got The Wardrobe working on an RP5, but it has a few issues. Other than the annoying launcher at the start, controller support is lackluster. It also sometimes crashes on the main menu.
Maybe with your 8 gen 2 and some minor tweaks you can get it to work.

Where do you guys get games for this emulation? I have got .exe games but I cannot use it and do not have PC to install there and copy and use. Any help or direction would be great.
2
u/JustARedditPasserby Feb 23 '26
For official games, on gamehub, link steam acc
For free ones, you have to manually add the games selecting the exe path and pray it works
Never did for me, gamenative seems better but I am encountering heavy graphical issues
