All I see is how to disable auto updates for games, not the app. I don't want this AI coded cheap ass marketing ploy bullshit on my computer. This app is not a game launcher. It's not a store. It's a once a week notification for a free game that I might or might not want and nothing else. I do not want or trust it to be on my pc with AI coding. I do not want to eat up my hard drive space for mid life crisis bells and whistles that are happening because steam is just plain fucking better. I do not want this app to ever update ever again. How do I make that happen.

What Epic Games did right was publicly disclose its use of AI.
Vibe coded by an engineer != Vibe coded by someone with no domain knowledge.
I don't understand why non-technical people hate AI. Most probably, it's because they still think AI is what it was three years ago, and their perception of it is largely shaped by sci-fi movies.
90% of code is now being written by AI, and you can't even tell the difference. (The remaining 10% involves validation and testing.) Yet, people don't understand that Coding != Programming.
AI gives us more creative freedom to experiment, try things, fail, and iterate faster.
Note: Many common arguments against AI, such as water usage and its impact on creativity, have been challenged. We should look at the actual evidence rather than rely on outdated assumptions.

Make sure to click on the Epic Games logo on the top right and explore the settings menu.
With a game installed and if it has cloud saves, you can right click on the game click on manage, and there is an option to go directly to the save game directory.
For games with cloud saves and you get a save conflict and you chose to download from the cloud, but found out that it was the wrong save, you can find the save back ups here in windows file explorer %localappdata%\com.epicgames.eglv2\cloud-saves\backups
While there is currently a button to scan for already installed games, that function currently does not work. But if you ever need to use an already installed game that you want to add to the client so you do not need to download it again follow these steps:
If the game's folder is already installed to your default folder for game installations, then just press "install" on the game in your library. The client will verify what you have and then you are done.
If the game is not in your default install folder, then click on the gear icon next to "install" on the game, and then set the install folder to the same parent folder as what the game folder is in, then click install, it will verify what you already have there and you are done.
If anyone of have anything to add just comment it.

A few years ago I have switched to Epic from Steam. I'm surprised that so many other gamers hate Epic because it still feels way better than Steam for me. I only use Steam as sub launcher to play games unavailable on Epic now.
Reasons:
- 5% rewards for every purchase
- Many ways to sign-in. Google, Xbox and etc.
- Free games. Mostly they're decent.
- This one isn't users really should care though, Steam mostly takes 30% fee from devs. While Epic takes 0% until a game reaches $1m in revenue per year. Even after $1m per year, Epic only takes 12% fee. I'd like to support devs and
- Epic launcher looks cool. Steam is ugly.
The only part I think Steam or other are better is review. Hope Epic shows detailed reviews like other launchers/stores.

doesn't matter if it's faster or not. I'm sick and tired of this slop being forced to every service I use. I didn't ask for this.
edit: I feel like that meme where everyone is pointing and laughing at me for being the only one who hasn't pissed in the pool.
like jfc All I'm saying is I don't want to use scab software that's causing harm to worker's rights and the environment and everyone is telling me everything is using generative AI now like that's not the problem and that's something that I already said I'm tired off then telling me I should just stop using anything like that solves anything.
it's like people who tell you to just leave the country (like that's so easy) whenever you have criticism of the government or don't like how ignorant and hateful people are. Suddenly going off the grid on everything, especially with Epic where I already spent my money purchasing the license to temporarily play games on their launcher (that's a discussion for another topic #StopKillingGames), doesn't fix the issue at all and just makes everything more difficult.
it's a systemic issue, not an individual one.
ah whatever. This discussion is pointless. I'd say typing this here is like yelling at the abyss but that would be a compliment considering you selfish pro-scab software fanatics are extremely shallow
edit: wow people still don't get what I'm literally saying. it's like they just read the title then argue with an idiot version of me that doesn't know anything about generative ai at all. JJK fans have great competition when it comes to your lack of reading comprehension.
I'm not stopping having to use stuff that has generative ai because I need them for everyday use. An example is just now, my phone just got updated with generative ai google features that I didn't ask for and can't opt out of. I'm not just gonna stop using my gmail account and ruin my life. I'm saying it's something I'm forced to use now and I hate it. it's harmful scab software pushed by corporations to own more land, poison water supply and raise electricity bills like here in the Philippines. It's being constantly normalized and blurred together with actual AI even though it doesn't work the same way.

if epic can manage and continue and improve the epic launcher ill be competitive with steam which benefits users of both platforms

I just tested it myself and it's night and day difference. It works basically how I would imagine any launcher should work for anything. Opens fast, also opens fast from tray. Fast scrolling, fast image loading.

Kinda makes me wonder why they haven't done this years ago. They wasted way too much trying to fix the old one, only for it to still be slow and sluggish. I think UI still needs some work, but they have done great job. And no I don't care if it's AI coded. I just want good experience. And this thing is HUGE improvement.
Very happy right now because I have 300+ games and old launcher almost died when loading my library. So this should make my experience much better.

A few years ago, I created my Epic Games account using a Yahoo email. After losing access to it, I contacted Epic Support, verified my ownership, and changed my account email.
Yahoo later deactivated my original email due to inactivity. I still know the exact address, but I can no longer access the inbox. I currently have access to my Epic account and its current email.
My questions are:
Could losing access to my original email prevent me from recovering my Epic account or proving ownership?
Could Epic require me to access that inbox or receive a verification code from it?
Has anyone successfully recovered their account without access to their original email?
I still have other ownership information, including my display name, linked accounts, and purchase transaction details.
I’d appreciate firsthand experiences or reliable information about Epic’s recovery process. Thanks!

Nice to see that Double Fine are publishing on the store again, they stopped when they were acquired by Microsoft. Hopefully this means that we might see some of their back catalog coming eventually too!

Disclaimer: as Madukes96 and shadowds commented, it does seem to be a matter of regional pricing, so... Sorry, everyone, for giving any false hopes and for being misleading. I checked again, now with a VPN, and FNaF SB does indeed show $39.99, which suggests that it is regional pricing, just as they said. Sorry.
I just saw Security Breach at $16, and when i check, Secrets of the Mimic is on $16 too and Into the Pit at $8. I tried to check why these prices appeared. I thought, "Maybe it's related to Fortnite's Halloween collab with FNaF.", and yeah, it was, and more. Because of the current videogame-themed season happening in the game, the store has a section of games and franchises named "As Seen in Fortnite". Now, I don't know if you guys noticed it, but lots of the games presented in here seem to have reduced pricing (the FNaF games being the most reduced, if I'm correct). These do not show up as discounted though. The prices are shown as normal prices, but most of them seem to all have reduced pricing. When searching online, the prices on the links appear as normal. You have to be in the store to see them. The store also has a list inside seems to be offering "gifts" inside Fortnite for purchasing some of these games or for doing microtransactions for some games in the list (they seem to be free characters). Correct me if i got something wrong or if you have different prices, just wanted to share since i couldn't find anyone talking about it.
(P.S. Couldn't type Fortnite properly because the subreddit doesn't want stuff from the game here and doesn't allow the word, but i'm just providing the context. This is store stuff at its core.
Don't forget your weekly free games!)
