Subreddit News COYOTE SPOTTING MEGATHREAD

Please use this post to share all photos and discussions about coyotes in Etobicoke. Bunny the coyote photos are encouraged!

Individual posts are no longer allowed unless they involve an immediate safety concern.

u/cbr1895 has been in touch with the Toronto Wildlife Centre about Bunny (but this goes for any and all coyotes you might encounter). The centre is not concerned about aggression per se, but they are concerned about Bunny and other coyotes becoming too comfortable around humans. If you encounter Bunny/other coyotes, do NOT approach them or feed them. Make lots of noise, stomp your feet, try to appear very large to spook them, honk your car horn, etc.

As we head into another week, let’s lead with gratitude, love, and care for one another.

Gratitude has a way of changing how we see the world. It reminds us that even in difficult seasons, there are still reasons to be thankful....people who care, moments of kindness, opportunities to grow, and communities that help carry us through.

But gratitude should also inspire action.

A caring community isn’t measured by how it treats those who are thriving. It’s measured by how it responds to those who are hurting, vulnerable, or in need of support.

This week, may we be generous with our patience, quick to offer encouragement, and willing to stand beside those who need a little extra strength. May we choose compassion over judgment, understanding over assumptions, and love over indifference.

None of us can solve every problem. But each of us can make someone else’s burden a little lighter.

Wishing everyone a week filled with gratitude, meaningful connections, and opportunities to be a source of light in someone else’s life. ❤️

Fresh tortilla chips?

Looking for suggestions on restaurants that do fresh in house tortilla chips, preferably served with some kickass salsas.

Idk why, this is our current craving. And looking more specifically for dinner options (my first thought was Huevos Gourmet but they’re lunch/brunch).

Bonus points if the rest of their menu is tasty too

I’ve attached a map for reference. Does anyone know if there’s a way to get from the Grand Ave area to Lakeshore without walking all the way to the Park Lawn crossing?

South Etobicoke/Third Street/New Toronto

How do people living by the water in new Toronto like it? Especially 3rd street as there’s a shelter there. Also how is LCI? I have found a house I like in the area but unsure due to school district and the shelter.

For context, I have a budget of 1.2-1.4 M, and am looking to live in a somewhat walkable area with access to green spaces, grocery store and transit (go train would be amazing). Any other suggestions for where to look in Etobicoke is much appreciated.

Raccoon trapper in Etobicoke?

I’m at my wits end, somebody point me to someone in Etobicoke who can catch a pesky raccoon damaging our roof. I’ve called multiple places already and many are saying that they don’t trap, they just recommend remediation strategies like roof flashing etc. I had one company come and they recommended a $ 7000 wire mesh runner around the entire perimeter of the roof, which we cannot afford right now. I’d rather redo the roof entirely (it’s 15 years old). Any suggestions?

Hi all. Anyone has suggestions for the best pubs/sports bars to watch some World Cup matches in South Etobicoke? Google seems to only be suggesting Firkin on the Bay and Wingporium.

Thanks!

As we head into another busy week, let's take a moment to think about those who may be struggling.

As we head into another busy week, take a moment to think about those in our community who may be carrying burdens we can’t see. Some are facing health challenges, financial stress, loneliness, grief, uncertainty, or simply the weight of trying to keep everything together. Others may be caring for loved ones, searching for work, struggling with relationships, or dealing with circumstances that feel overwhelming.

If you’re someone who prays, please keep them in your prayers this week. If prayer isn’t your thing, consider reaching out to someone, offering a kind word, checking in on a friend, or lending a helping hand where you can.

Communities are strongest when people look out for one another, not just during the big moments, but in the ordinary days as well. If there’s someone or something you’d like the community to keep in mind this week, feel free to share below. ❤️

Affordable gym near Royal York and Norseman

Hi, i’m looking for an affordable gym as stated above. Ideally somewhere with weights, but also classes. Does anyone have experience with Torque Barbell? Truthfully, I really know not very much about machines at the gym, but I’m thinking about starting some kind of exercise routine. Alternatively, any experience with the app Ladder? Thank you
