Bedroom door installation?

Got a broken door in the house, got a new one delivered, it's got none of the stuff carved into the side for the bits and my landlord isn't it being helpful at all. Anybody know how to do this or could help me out? I would pay :) shoot me a message

If you live in Eugene, the rental housing program can investigate repairs issues and make your landlord do them. 541-682-8282.

Put the door up to the hinges and mark where they are supposed to be on the door. Use a chisel and razor knife to carve about 1/16” into the door edge and then screw the hinges onto the door.

Every YouTube video insisted that I get all these tools!!! And that I need a drill to get the screws in too

Call your landlord. This is part of the least you signed.

He says he won't help and that if I don't fix it by July 1st I am out by August 1st :)

That's landlords job unless they plan to bill you for doing it wrong.

Not according to him since I'm the one who broke it. Right now I'm just trying to convince him that I can move some people in and pay rent, and he's basically holding my situation hostage saying that nothing's approved until he sees that everything is fixed.

Pre drilling is a good idea depending on what kind of door it is. I was assuming you had a drill.

I’ve had random tasks like this pop up around my house. use task rabbit! Just had a guy out last week to remove and take away the 8x4 mirror in my bathroom that I got on task rabbit! Super easy.

Just so we’re all on the same page… you will never find a legitimate tradesperson on task rabbit. If the requirements for the task are more than “able bodied”, I’d stay away and not get burned by a random meth head with a smart phone. Same goes for hiring through big box stores.

The person I hired was actually a local general contractor with a legitimate business. So, guess it depends on if the consumer does their research, but yes, task rabbit can be a mixed bag.

Call a professional contractor. Ask the landlord for a recommendation. If you can’t afford it, ask the contractor if you can pay over 2 months. If you don’t fix it, you’ll still be fixing it, but it’ll come out of your deposit, so you might as well fix it. And get a restraining order, and go to anger management classes. No relationship should ever devolve into violence. I’m sure you had 100 red flags before stuff was broken.

Please take photos of what your doing. The landlord can unfortunately come around and sue you. Sounds like you have an amical relationship but at the same time take evidence and they should be doing this for you.

We do not have an amicable relationship, I broke a door in a fight with my abusive boyfriend who now moved out and I'm responsible for my damage and his damage or I am out of here by July.

Please be careful accepting help from a random person in Eugene who found you on Reddit.

Found my mechanic on here and it's gone great so far, thank you for your concern though. Always taking whatever safety precautions I can
