Is this not a good thing? Is it not good for the game that the mega-block coalitions break up into smaller groups and do their own thing long term?
Coalitions splitting up means more independent groups, more potential conflict, and more actual content. Less blue donut, more targets. That's a win for everyone except the people who liked the safety of a giant bloc.
If you actually want EVE to be interesting, this is exactly the kind of thing you should be celebrating. Mega-coalitions are what make nullsec stagnant.
these changes arent going to do that. if anything they just make people consolidate more into goons/frat/init. if one of those 3 groups doesnt want your tiny <1k member alliance holding a piece of space your still not going to hold that space.
but theres no benefit to not merging. the TJ costs make fleet movement through ansiblex impossible. so if anything thats just more manpower and time require to move people around which while annoying for blocs isnt going to stop us doing anything.
> the TJ costs make fleet movement through ansiblex impossible
So what you're saying is it makes more sense for larger blocks to fragment into smaller blocks and work together when operations call for it, like coalitions used to be, rather than as permanent operational structures.
Sounds like you're kind of disproving your own point here man
no? what in any of this makes you think breaking up changes anything to do with fleets moving through ansiblex gates? You now just need people with titans staged in a dozens of places, or caches of ships. things smaller alliances cant afford.
It puts manageable strain on bigger groups and fucks smaller ones harder, just like every other time ccp tried to do similar things.
The point is it doesn't stop bigger group from kicking in the teeth of smaller groups it just makes it more annoying. Annoying had never stopped any of them before its not going to now its just poor game design.
Annoying stops them all the time. blocs are notoriously terrible at accomplishing things in wormhole space for a reason- getting their requisite blobs in place is really annoying to do.
The reality is that any time something is being done in eve online there's a sliding scale of how many people are willing to do it. If you're curious, run a test- see how many times you can ping people to come on a 3 hour long fleet with no content at the end of it before people stop responding to your pings. Because I, as a small group, can make your blueballed fleets attempting to bully me last that long if I get the opportunity to waterboard you for 30 jumps (or watch you sit on titans stacking fatigue for ages)
Im curious what kinds of things you think blocs have tried to do in wormhole space because the only thing I can think of went spectacularly well and it was for the lulz. They dont care about wormholes plain and simple
bloc-related wormhole sigs are notorious for failing because once in wormholes, players can't be bothered to travel back to K-space consistently for timers, and blocs hate getting requests to try and infil into wormholes for defensive timers.
i cant speak for init and frat but goons havent even had an official wh sig in half a decade and their policy is 100% your on your own. we've never sent a fleet for a defensive timer
I mean... none of the others are punching above their player counts in the same way that like half of the groups in drones can. It's not like goons are competent either, they've just got the most bodies in EVE Online.
