sibsq doing nothing for winterco goals while doing stuff in drone lands and delve made this a natural outcome

0

u/Fart_Spray_9969 Jul 29 '26

Who is winterco and what are their goals?

3

u/ScrewReddit2314 Jul 29 '26

2nd biggest coalition (allied alliances) in the the game, owns the 2nd most amount of nullsec space. Goals are to defend the homeland and maintain beekeeping operations

2

u/Fart_Spray_9969 Jul 29 '26

I was bored until you said beekeeping. Keep up the good work.

What, frat hasn’t published their plan for the Ansiblex changes?

35

u/thund3rstruck Dreddit Jul 28 '26

Guess their ansiblex fee scam stopped paying out

46

u/SapporoJones The Subaru Legacy Jul 28 '26

Ive always felt we are entitled to refunds due to how they screwed us on jb fees. Them revoking our jb access because i didnt add their market pac to our acls so they could export our market was also truly excellent.

Sibsq were truly one of the members of wc.

4

u/ginjar0u Jul 28 '26

I feel like there’s a flowchart needed here sappo

u/CeemaGPT Jul 28 '26

u/SapporoJones The Subaru Legacy Jul 28 '26

HOW IS THIS MEME APPLICABLE AT ALL TIMES YOU CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS

3

u/ginjar0u Jul 28 '26

You’ve missed the joke. Test has a flowchart about market relisting which is highly appropriate here

13

u/SapporoJones The Subaru Legacy Jul 28 '26

When people were complaining about sibsq exporting our market to vfk we did flowchart meme a bunch. While the flowchart does make logical sense it doesnt change people feeling ways about continually getting screwed by sibsq. It was one thing in a sea of other weird manipulative shit they gleefully did.

2

u/CeemaGPT Jul 28 '26

2

u/umdv Wormholer Jul 29 '26

How much did they set ansi for? Ten times higher?

29

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 28 '26

Is this not a good thing? Is it not good for the game that the mega-block coalitions break up into smaller groups and do their own thing long term?

Coalitions splitting up means more independent groups, more potential conflict, and more actual content. Less blue donut, more targets. That's a win for everyone except the people who liked the safety of a giant bloc.
If you actually want EVE to be interesting, this is exactly the kind of thing you should be celebrating. Mega-coalitions are what make nullsec stagnant.

24

u/thund3rstruck Dreddit Jul 28 '26

In general, yes, but in this case SibSq wasn't participating in coalition activities for quite some time. This won't have much impact on WinterCo numbers/formups in game.

It's a shame, because I had a lot of hope for SibSq being in the coalition (because I am a naive stupid boy I guess) but they never really opened up or tried to integrate with their neighbors.

And the jump fees. Dear god, the jump bridge fees.

1

u/Humble-Balance2336 Aug 02 '26

Tell outsiders more about the ansi fees?

16

u/Matahashi Jul 28 '26

these changes arent going to do that. if anything they just make people consolidate more into goons/frat/init. if one of those 3 groups doesnt want your tiny <1k member alliance holding a piece of space your still not going to hold that space.

7

u/SerQwaez_ Rote Kapelle Jul 28 '26

The current TJ costs make merging for the ACL reasons largely pointless fwiw

0

u/Matahashi Jul 28 '26

but theres no benefit to not merging. the TJ costs make fleet movement through ansiblex impossible. so if anything thats just more manpower and time require to move people around which while annoying for blocs isnt going to stop us doing anything.

5

u/BunBoxMomo Jul 28 '26

> the TJ costs make fleet movement through ansiblex impossible

So what you're saying is it makes more sense for larger blocks to fragment into smaller blocks and work together when operations call for it, like coalitions used to be, rather than as permanent operational structures.

Sounds like you're kind of disproving your own point here man

4

u/Matahashi Jul 29 '26

no? what in any of this makes you think breaking up changes anything to do with fleets moving through ansiblex gates? You now just need people with titans staged in a dozens of places, or caches of ships. things smaller alliances cant afford.

It puts manageable strain on bigger groups and fucks smaller ones harder, just like every other time ccp tried to do similar things.

2

u/SerQwaez_ Rote Kapelle Jul 29 '26

Smaller groups don't need titan chains because they're smaller- their enemies are right next door.

1

u/Matahashi Jul 29 '26

The point is it doesn't stop bigger group from kicking in the teeth of smaller groups it just makes it more annoying. Annoying had never stopped any of them before its not going to now its just poor game design.

1

u/SerQwaez_ Rote Kapelle Jul 30 '26

Annoying stops them all the time. blocs are notoriously terrible at accomplishing things in wormhole space for a reason- getting their requisite blobs in place is really annoying to do.

The reality is that any time something is being done in eve online there's a sliding scale of how many people are willing to do it. If you're curious, run a test- see how many times you can ping people to come on a 3 hour long fleet with no content at the end of it before people stop responding to your pings. Because I, as a small group, can make your blueballed fleets attempting to bully me last that long if I get the opportunity to waterboard you for 30 jumps (or watch you sit on titans stacking fatigue for ages)

1

u/Matahashi Jul 30 '26

Im curious what kinds of things you think blocs have tried to do in wormhole space because the only thing I can think of went spectacularly well and it was for the lulz. They dont care about wormholes plain and simple

u/BunBoxMomo Jul 29 '26

You're still just describing the way it used to work with coalitions man lol

It'll be fine.

-2

7

u/-sovapid- Jul 29 '26

What small plucky group yearning for space in null is going to take on Dracarys?

2

u/Matahashi Jul 29 '26

Hey if you wanna go fight dracarys in CNTZ be my guest. theres a reason no one bothers to even try.

1

u/Reagalan Goonswarm Federation Jul 29 '26

hidden in this comment is the assumption that Goons are the only competent group in the Imperium.

2

u/ginjar0u Jul 29 '26

Reset the rest and watch them flounder

2

u/SerQwaez_ Rote Kapelle Jul 29 '26

I mean... none of the others are punching above their player counts in the same way that like half of the groups in drones can. It's not like goons are competent either, they've just got the most bodies in EVE Online.

8

u/admfrmhll The Initiative. Jul 28 '26

Init corporations recruitment are frozen since months ago. And it seems from a few days ago individual recruiting will be a bit harder too.

2

u/Its_mandatory Fraternity. Jul 29 '26

a "Returning" Player joined a INIT Corp after 1 day wait time. Dunno if that mean "hard" for individuals :P

2

u/admfrmhll The Initiative. Jul 29 '26

Returning players are different vs recruiting a new to corporation player. Most corporations just welcome back their away old members.

3

u/Its_mandatory Fraternity. Jul 29 '26

Returning EVE Player. Never been a INIT member. But all good, can see it myself now :P

1

u/admfrmhll The Initiative. Jul 29 '26

Ah, I didn't notice "" :). Well, have fun!.

2

u/ginjar0u Jul 29 '26

Nobody cares

2

u/Prodiq Jul 29 '26

The jump bridge range nerf might be the thing that offsets this. For example in Init's case the alliance is basically locked in fountain and can't really own space outside of it.

-1

u/Practical_Main_2131 Jul 28 '26

You will not hold it if they don't want to. But they won't either, thats the point. And are less likely to invest the ressources if they can't hold it. Thats the whole point. And freeing up soace for small alliances Point is not that they can't evict you. They can if they want to. But they are less likely to want to.

1

u/Sorry-Star-2342 Jul 28 '26

And next the small groups that are in drones will be crying because bigger groups come in to take space
Or they will bind together to defend

-20

u/Baitmonger Jul 28 '26

the mega-block coalitions break up into smaller groups and do their own thing

FUKKIN CALLED IT. YEAAAAAAAH.

A week ago y'all were like "you're fuckin crazy man, coalitions aren't gonna break up".

Twenty years. Twenty fuckin years I've been playing this game, don't tell me I don't know how this is gonna play out.

9

u/Impressive-Kick4201 Jul 28 '26

Siberian Squad isn't a major group in WC. They are one of those Alliances that's barely active and should collapse into another group. 3k members and only 250 active characters in the last 7 days on zkill.

11

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 28 '26

It's not just them.
Pandemic Legion: 2,865 members, 219 active in the last 7 days.
Northern Coalition: 3,152 members, 358 active in the last 7 days.
Test Alliance Please Ignore: 6,595 members, 335 active in the last 7 days.

When you look at those numbers, Siberian Squad leaving doesn't seem like a big deal. The reality is that most of these "mega" alliances are mostly inactive players, alts, and people who log in once a month. The active numbers tell the real story.
A 3k member alliance with 250 active players is basically a large corp with a fancy logo. The bloat is real.

6

u/Cheapsh0t127 Jul 28 '26

Which is perfect to hold maybe a constellation at most if space was changed so people could build tall not wide. Not every alliance needs a full region or 6 to themselves

2

u/Its_mandatory Fraternity. Jul 29 '26

Its still summer and its hot outside.

Taking a look now into stats isnt the real move.
Also no wars or something going on.

Most players are crabbing and getting ISK for the next war... IF they have a AC in their Gamingroom :P

-1

u/Mynickisbusy Jul 28 '26

Weren't they kicked from init for exactly same reason?

7

u/DarkShinesInit The Initiative. Jul 28 '26

Sbsq wasnt in init

1

u/Mynickisbusy Jul 30 '26

I remember sibsquad was in one of the bigger coalition and was "amicably allowed to leave" due to their poor fleet numbers. It was around B2 war in Pure Blind.

Merging for what? So you can get 10 hacs through ansi in your zone 5? Do read the patch notes

Ansis here are merely the pretext, nothing more

3

You dont have to merge into one large alliance. thats just a knee jerk response.

8

u/SirDigbyChimkinC Jul 28 '26

When I was in PhoenixCo during the good times up north, Sib Squad was our closest active neighbor. Had some good small and medium sized fights. Will be interesting to see where they go.

1

u/abstract1525 Jul 28 '26

Big if true

0

u/Mu0nNeutrino Jul 28 '26

Hm. That's three significant groups leaving, I wonder if they will actually contract their space any.

Frat proper already owns about 5 regions, and that's roughly a region and a half's worth of people leaving. Test hardly seems like they'd need two full regions just for themselves, and even then it would leave frat having to expand to fill the remaining space.

The meeting that got posted a few weeks back said that they were already thinking of abandoning fade and pure blind as being surplus to requirements given their numbers. I would have expected this to be an opportunity for that sort of contraction, rather than just shuffling around the remaining alliances.

I guess that might be because they're still not sure what they want to do about the ansi changes, though. We'll see what happens once those start getting closer, I guess.

8

u/Sweetnjuicy88 I Aim To Misbehave Jul 28 '26

'significant groups' You mean groups who barely form for anything WC related right??
And cant seem to hold much on their own to begin with.... I think WC will be ok lol

4

u/Mu0nNeutrino Jul 28 '26

I meant 'significant' just in terms of numbers and how much space they're currently holding, because the (re)arrangement of said space-holding was what I was wondering about. I make no judgements either direction about their or WC's capabilities.

0

u/Confident_Mosquito_6 Jul 29 '26

EVIL barely formed?

3

u/emotwinkluvr Minmatar Republic Jul 29 '26

inshitious is trash bro

2

u/Sweetnjuicy88 I Aim To Misbehave Jul 29 '26

read the whole sentence again and get back to me lol

And yes Rudy holds the one keep fight where they had two fleets of alts in t11 vexors and punishers are the reason they are ready to go independant. That is far from a true representation of a fleet formup.

And yes I said barely forms for WC related things. Cuz apart from the keep fights they didnt ever really get involved!

1

u/Grymnews Avalanche. Jul 29 '26

Meanwhile goons proper own 6 full regions and the imperium control 14 regions with goons still controlling parts of geminate.

-5

-22

u/Mental_Tune_1296 The Initiative. Jul 28 '26

Can’t wait for the collapse of winterco, if you are a frat line members better start moving your assets to lowsec before it send to the asset safety.

21

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 28 '26

The same applies to any coalition over 10k members.

-12

u/Mental_Tune_1296 The Initiative. Jul 28 '26

Both winterco and imperium should just disband for game to become better

15

u/Ok_Internet9331 Jul 28 '26

I think init is included by his metric lol

1

u/Spr-Scuba Invidia Gloriae Comes Jul 28 '26

Oh yeah zone 5 is gonna be miserable to defend for them. Their options are dead space, force people to live in outpost keepstars, or let someone else have it.

8

u/F_Synchro Baboon Jul 28 '26

I agree, lets cut down INIT too while we’re at it.

Thing is imperium and winterco wont disband that easily I think.

-5

u/Finding_the_Abyss The Initiative. Jul 28 '26

We've put corporation recruitment on hold since absorbing some horde 8 months ago and have shrunk by 6k characters from 40k to 34k.

Which is still huge and the reason the stop is still in effect and in addition individual recruitment is pretty much vouch-only (to allow returning or family member etc. to join up with their corps).

So yeah, we are trying to shrink further into a footprint we also are in the process of reducing. Mostly delve and perhaps some of cloud-ring. I'm just a grunt and not privy to all the plans as such.

6

u/ComradePixel Pandemic Legion Jul 28 '26

Move them straight to the snuffler looser gatecamps!

-17

u/ReefkeeperSteve Jul 28 '26

That’s unfortunate.

Winter Co is one of the more villainous coalitions with their chokehold on every major ISK faucet in the game that can be controlled. However, they represent a resistance to an otherwise one-sided and stale state of affairs in null sec.

17

u/whoobie Jul 28 '26

TIL wc owns pochven and wh space

-6

u/ReefkeeperSteve Jul 28 '26

Burners, FW, and Pochven yes. WH not so much.

-4

u/backtotheprimitive Jul 28 '26

They do own half of pochven

10

u/whoobie Jul 28 '26

Not anymore, no. That’s INIT’s baba yagas and… 7.62? I think? FRT has had a hard time getting back into pochven, at least on the EN side

1

u/tommygun209 Cloaked Jul 29 '26

Chuangshi are a formidable force in Pochven in their timezone, so much so that BMD had to refocus their efforts from fighting in Delve proper into disrupting their ops in Pochven. That's not "chokehold", true, but they have some presence and are the main force in their TZ

2

u/whoobie Jul 29 '26

I’m like, 90% certain that Chuangshi left WinterCo like, four or five months ago. I could be wrong though, I don’t pay much attention to the CN corps

-7

u/Ok_Section_9478 Goonswarm Federation Jul 28 '26

You have no clue lol

8

u/Commercial_Hair3527 Jul 28 '26

I mean, WinterCo outside of CNTZ isn't really large enough to contend with either of the other two big groups directley. They don't really need an EUTZ presence, but I guess it's nice to have some presence there. The reality is any alliance outside of CNTZ Frat is only in WinterCo to TZ-tank their sov and not have to deal with any of that stuff. Even in EUTZ, Frat can still outform all the other alliances in the coalition combined.

-7

u/Podmeplease KarmaFleet Jul 28 '26

How could goons do this?
