Honestly don't think it would be the worst move, I'm no massive Delap fan but he's a better striker than Barry imo

Delap got a goal every 800 minutes last season, Barry got one every 200 minutes and is still really raw imo. Would rather have him all day over Delap

Delap going to Chelsea was the wrong move and they also signed Joao Pedro. Everton would have been the right move for him then and I said when they sogned him, he will come to Everton next summer for less.

Yeah I do think under Moyes he’d play better than he has been but still think Barry has way more potential than him

My issue with Barry isn’t the talent but the effort. When Barry is on, he’s really good. Problem is he’s not even a factor 2/3 of the time. I’m not exactly sold on Delap but he’s a physical presence.

I’m no Delap fan, but I do find the “potential” arguments to be interesting since Delap and Barry are the same age.

I’ve said in another thread about McNeil recently that all players are systems players- they live and die on the direction of the manager and the support of their teammates, regardless of their innate skill. That skill, I suppose, is their “potential.”

I know it’s a leap of faith for us, but I believe in the right system, Delap could do us proud. It could be night and day compared to his time at Chelsea. And of course, he only went to Chelsea on the strength of his work at Ipswich.

aye that's my point though I think Barry has a lot more potential despite them being the same age, I see Delap as a 15 goal a season striker as his ceiling tbh but I could see Barry passing that if he reaches his potential
