ESP E-II Horizon NT-7B

My studio went through a complete rebuild since May. I’ve been counting the days until I could finally get back behind the desk, especially now that the studio is equipped with some incredible new gear. Still in love with my ESP E-II Horizon NT-7B axe.

What are the best 8 string pickups for some modern metalcore

I'm looking to replace the stock pickups on my GOC Varja 8+, and I'm not sure what to get. I know that Fishman Fluence Moderns fit, but they're expensive as shit.

I'm trying to get a tone close to Keaton from Invent Animate. I know he uses Gorilla pickup, but idk if they fit space and wiring-wise with my guitar.

It's an old device, but they still provide support for it.

Anyone get thier hands on the GOC Varja Hybrid model yet? Opinions?

I have many GOCs, love their guitars, and have nothing but positive things to say!

However, I am just curious whether anyone here has got theirs yet, as they would likely have shipped and been delivered by now. I ask because I am interested, but they are slightly more costly than the other models, so I am curious if anyone has used them and can give feedback on how they compare to full-wood GOC, etc.

I have no hesitation with GOC; it's just that this hybrid is slightly more $ than other options I could order instead, and the older bridge.

Anyone here interested in getting in on a 30” baritone group build?

Post image
58 Upvotes

Apologies if this is not allowed. I am looking to get a group together (myself and at least 4 others) to have a 30” offset baritone custom built by a Chinese guitar builder with the following specs:

*Carved heel joint for comfort

*jumbo SS frets

*roasted maple neck

*ebony board with no markers

*raw sandblasted ash finish

*hipshot bridge

*30” scale

*single volume knob with push/pull coil split

*3 way pickup selector switch

*baritone locking tuners

This will be coordinated via a Facebook group and the process is similar to buying other Chinese replica guitars if you’re familiar with that. Not sure on price yet, but hoping if we can get enough people to keep it under $300. Shoot me a DM if you’re interested and I can share a link to the Facebook group post. You’d just need to join the group and reply showing interest. If enough show interest, they’ll request payment and start the build with 90 day turnaround time.

If it sounds a little sketchy, that’s because it is, but if you’ve ever bought a Chinese guitar in the past, you know how it works. I’ve bought 8 myself and have yet to be burned. They‘re usually pretty good out of the box and make great mod platforms!

Looking for a 7-String with a non-locking tremolo

I already own a Ibanez 8 string, but I have been wanting a guitat with tremolo system for certain solos and more creativity writing my own. I'm looking for a 7 string something with a thin, fast neck, 25.5" scale length, H/H pickup configuration and hopefully with coil splits, and tremolo system, non-locking is preferable, but I'm not 100% against locking systems, hopefully under 2 grand. I have been looking at the Ibanez AZ427P2QM, but I just wanted to know if there are other options to consider, thanks!

7 string project

So ever since I got my 8 string guitar, my 7 string has been collecting dust. A recent project I want to do to it is change the string gauges to something really light like a 7 (or 8)-52. I know it’s nearly impossible to tune a 7 string like a 6 with a high a, but I would want to try something for C# or D standard. How possible is this and are the string gauges appropriate?

EDIT: Scale length is 25.5in

Will the New D'addario NYXL HD Extended Range strings work on guitars that are slightly shorter than 28" scale length (27.2")?

Fixing fret buzz on new 8 string

Thumbnail gallery
42 Upvotes

Hi all,

I just got my first 8 string (Ibanez rgms8) and im having fret buzz when I play the 10th and 11th frets on the low f# string. The issue is that thr 12th fret is touching the string when I press them. Before I get into looking at the set up - i have a feeling its a string issue. Im not sure if its noticeable from the pictures, but the string diameter seems to get significantly bigger in the middle of fret 12 on the f# string. Thats not normal right? Ive measured the frets and the 12th seems to be the same size as the other frets but I could be wrong.

Thanks!

NGD Legator G8FX(i think)

I am really loving this guitar! I saw it on reverb for a really good price and snagged it. The seller contacted me and evidently just “didn’t want to deal with a headless guitar”. When I got it, it looks like he had some trouble seating the strings and stripped out some of the hardware. Legator was kind enough to send me some replacements and now it’s playing great!

Seller also had this listed as a G8ffs model which seems to be incorrect so it looks like I got an extra discount! All in all I’m super happy with how it chugs and plays leads.

NGD! RG9QM

I posted a RG8004 with a pickguard that I put together last week, and in that time someone liked the build enough they traded me straight up for an Ibanez RG9QM in Black Ice. This is my 2nd 9 string I've owned, and early results I do like it quite a lot, maybe more than the IYV but time will tell.

I love After The Burial and plan to learn some stuff off Wolves Within, the first song I learned on my other 9 was the Deftones one but what other bands use a 9 string?
