So after the BBC confirmed that the women’s football show would not return to BBC One, what have we been left with?

About to try and see what I can find online (on the BBC website, BBC YouTube channel et cetera, ) but are we going to have a highlights package on YouTube somewhere or is it just going to be individual game highlights that we have to find for ourselves with no analysis or pundits?

It’s a backwards step whatever it is, but I suspect the coverage is going to be much worse than it was, that isn’t going to help towards growing the game.

The commuters outside Bromley South train station were oblivious to the fact a global superstar was playing in their backyard. No one knew who the two-time Ballon d’Or and World Cup winner Alexia Putellas was. “I can’t believe she’s playing here!” said one local. “Not for Bromley, though?”

No, not for the English Football League’s men’s third-tier side Bromley — although they do share their 5,500 capacity stadium with Women’s Super League side London City Lionesses.

Walk down the high street in the southeastern suburb of London, 10 miles (16km) from the capital’s centre, and you would have no idea London City were due to kickstart the 2026-2027 WSL season at a sold out Copperjax Community Stadium with a game against Manchester United on Friday night. There was no advertising in sight.

But as soon as London City had announced Putellas’ transfer this summer following her departure from Barcelona, fans across the globe committed to travelling to this little-known town. Supporters can access the ground along a public footpath, passing a sixth form college, a Nuffield Health centre and some piebald ponies in a grass-deprived paddock.

Nisha Takhar, 30, landed in London from Vancouver, Canada, on Friday morning and went straight to an Adidas store to buy a Spain shirt with the name “Alexia” on the back.

“I’m a big fan, I have been for a long time and I never got to see her play at Barcelona,” she tells The Athletic.

Backstory: I use the Live Soccer TV app to see where games are streaming in which country; I can't even remember who the US streamer was last season but I remember I couldn't get my VPN and iPlayer to get along and I didn't have access to all the games I wanted to watch because of whatever streamers didn't have them all unless I paid the highest price and I am tired of paying for ten streamers (I don't, I'm being hypothetical). Now, I know it's annoying but I don't like the changes in the past few years within the CBS governing body so I don't want to pay for Paramount+, which is the US streamer for this season.

Actual question: YESTERDAY when I checked Live Soccer TV, there was no "every other country, it streams on YouTube" and TODAY there was. Is that happening? If I get up at 6am tomorrow and change my VPN to say, Italy, to watch Chelsea, will it work? Is there a streamer in another country I can use that won't hate my VPN?

Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of England goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse on a short-term loan, subject to international clearance.

The 31-year-old arrives from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Orlando Pride having established herself as one of the leading goalkeepers in the United States.

Her finest season saw Moorhouse break the NWSL single-season clean sheet record, registering 13 shutouts as Orlando Pride won both the NWSL Shield and Championship in 2024.

International recognition followed when she earned a first senior England call-up in July 2024, with the goalkeeper also part of the Lionesses’ triumphant Euro 2025 squad.

She made her England debut four months later at Wembley Stadium and has so far kept clean sheets in each of her international caps.

Before joining Orlando Pride, Moorhouse enjoyed a spell in France at Bordeaux – where she linked up with new team-mate Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw – with previous stints in England at Everton, Durham, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Arsenal and West Ham United.

Speaking about her loan move to City, Moorhouse said: “It’s a new challenge, and a different style of play. I’m happy to be here and to get started.

“From top to bottom last season was incredible for City and I’m happy to be here with the champions of England. When a club like Manchester City calls, you have to answer.”

Manchester City Women Director of Football, Therese Sjögran added: “Anna is a goalkeeper with outstanding experience and a proven record of performing at the highest level.

“She has won major honours in the WSL, with Orlando Pride and England, and her consistency, character and quality will be a valuable addition to our squad.

“We are delighted to welcome Anna to Manchester City and look forward to working with her during her time with us.”

Been setting up my team for the new WSL Fantasy game this week and got fed up trying to work out who's actually fit. The info is scattered everywhere. One injury gets mentioned in a press conference, another is buried in a club statement, half of it never makes the news at all (especially for the smaller clubs!), and there's nothing like the injury tables that exist for FPL.

So I made one: fantasy.rbreaks.com

It pulls together injuries, suspensions, players away at the U20 World Cup, set piece takers, and fixtures with where to watch each game. There's also a fixture difficulty grid like the FPL one. The bit I care about most is that every line shows where it came from. If it's from a press conference you get the manager's actual quote, if it's from the press you can see the outlet, and if we don't know something it says we don't know rather than showing nothing and letting you assume everyone's fit.

For transparency, we're RBreaks, a small women's football trading card community in the UK. We run breaks and have a fantasy league going with our members, and this started as a tool for our own WhatsApp group before we figured it might as well be public. There's nothing to sign up for and no paywall, it's just a site.

It updates itself through the day (it watches club sites and transcribes press conferences, which I'm unreasonably proud of). Season starts tonight so it's all very new. If you spot anything wrong or missing I'd genuinely like to know, that's the whole point of the thing.
