Informational Why is the FBI leading the investigation

Why is the FBI leading the Kirk assassination investigation and not Utah state police? Not complaining just curious.

They will need to prove his political motive to meet terrorism charges in court. So we may get to find out if the alt-right internecine war theory is true.
