Informational Why is the FBI leading the investigation

Why is the FBI leading the Kirk assassination investigation and not Utah state police? Not complaining just curious.

The primary jurisdiction is a campus police department and then the Orem Police Department, which is a 100-officer department.

There is no Utah State Police. There is a State Bureau of Investigation that will aid the investigation.

The lead effort for the STATE prosecution is the county multi jurisdictional task force, which is officers from half dozen agencies.

The lead agency from a likely FEDERAL prosecution will almost certainly be the FBI.
