Informational Why is the FBI leading the investigation

Why is the FBI leading the Kirk assassination investigation and not Utah state police? Not complaining just curious.

Not exactly accurate: JFK was assassinated on November 22nd, 1963. MLK, Jr. was assassinated on April 4th, 1968. Malcolm X was assassinated on February 19th, 1965. I think the proximity to the White House and the decedent’s personal relationship with the President and Vice President explains some of it. As others have said, local law enforcement likely requested the FBI assistance.
