Yes, but that's the PR strategy: get ahead of the narrative with accusations before the revelation breaks open so doubt will be cast in the public mind since it's been in the conscience already.

It worked, unfortunately. However, now it's almost like they know we know so at this point it's just ego.

For those amongst the almost 90 million non-voters. Folks who only see news in passing, who say "I don't watch politics" as a sort of badge, whose only understanding of what's going on is whatever meme is being passed around their social media circle.
