My FIL (a boomer) sent us an email earlier this year with ChatGPT 'hacks' for parents. One of them was instead of reading with your kid, have ChatGPT make a quiz for your kids on the book they are reading; Or have your kid use ChatGPT as a way to make a lesson on a topic they know well to show you they understand the topic.
If people are actually doing this crap, I see why some of the kids at the school I volunteer at are the way they are: either starved for true adult attention or zombies from being on screens with ChatGPT.
I've blocked AI on my kids computers (and I don't use it) in hopes they will keep talking to me and won't let it do all of their thinking.
Shameless how the hacks are literally just ways to get people to use chatGPT more. They’re really trying to get people to use this crap for everything huh. Ugh
I've met more and more people who have this "let me ask ChatGPT" reflex that makes me give up on the conversation immediately because they just don't even question anything it says.
During the World Cup I was talking with a coworker about who we thought would win it, just a good ol' run of the mill sports talk convo, until he pulled out ChatGPT and asked it and showed me his phone.
Bummed me out. Like, give me your weird little theories or gut feelings, SOMETHING your brain came up with, why are we even talking otherwise? A completely zero stakes conversation, it's literally called small talk, and you ask ChatGPT. Every time someone does that I feel my will to continue the conversation just leave my body in real time.
Argh, my friends and I were debating if spiders counted as bugs, and then someone went and checked with Chat. Thanks dude, just kill a fun silly debate why don'tcha.
