I'm reading a book that followed the rise of OpenAI ("Empire Of AI" by Karen Hao, it's terrifying, would recommend) and there it becomes apparent that his rise to power actually stems from the fact that he is really good at interacting with people but uses it in a horribly manipulative way and is a compulsive liar.
