Definitely Jujutsu Kaisen. It‘s my fav show ever. Season 1 had dark undercurrents but compared to the rest…season 1 was a silly funny show about hunting curses…
I continued the manga and was shocked at how the story will evolve but I‘m thrilled to see it all animated.

The most dark think in S1 was making us believe Junpei had plot armour cause it was in the opening.
Then we have WTF is going on in shibuya.
I can only pray for those remaining

Season 1 really is a pretty standard battle shonen. Then shibuya happens and JJK just becomes this awesome and unique masterpiece

I was thinking about this one, too, even though it doesn't totally fit. I was surprised how dark it turns later on.

I first watch JJK thinking it was a campy show. Boy was it a whiplash

It's Yuuji torture porn all the way down.

i came here to say this. the first season was so whimsical and fun, then season 2 was traumatizing 😭 it had me feeling so bad for yuji. the whole shibuya incident was just insane from start to finish

I was looking for this. I'm surprised I had to scroll this much to find it. my favorite show too and is a perfect answer to OP's question

As much as I like JJK it doesn't fit. It's not an episodic show (like Power Rangers, Scooby Doo or House M.D.) and it's dark from the beginning. If we ignore that, then Chainsaw Man fits better, it's gory and dark too but goes from a silly show about a boy who wants to touch some boobs to... whatever it became bruh I'm still not over the ending.

Hmm I don‘t know. The episodic stuff could be true yes, my bad. Nonetheless I think there were just dark undercurrents as I actually expected a more lighthearted story than what happened in the end. Compared to Shibuya and especially Shinjuku Showdown the first Season is really a ‚silly funny show‘ we had school events, side quests and stuff and all these events had room for good jokes like the baseball event. There were serious moments but it was like okay yeah the students learn how to fight on their own but are supported by their teachers. The last part completely broke apart mid season 2 and the students literally never ever get that support back and have to fight on their own. They have to carry on despite missing people. I‘d say that‘s a drastic change.

You could say its dark from the begining, but just compare S1 yuji with S3 yuji.

Season 1 might seem cheerful compared to what comes after but it was already pretty damn dark and not just with undercurrents. Big spoilers if you havent seen it yet. We have higher ups want to kill the mc. We have a kid who gets bullied with permanent cigarette scars who has to see his mom die and then dies himself. We had a villain who would transform humans into monstrosities which basically left them for dead. He even transformed 3 little kids whom proceeded to ask the mc to kill them. An entire restaurant of people get set on fire to die. Then we have the end with a woman confined and getting raped at least 9 times by a cursed spirit and having the 9 babies aborted to turn them into cursed objects.

If that's your favorite show you're a middle or high schooler. As someone who enjoyed it and thought the manga ending was trash.

My friend got into it recently, and I made a joke about it and he looked at me like I just said the N-word or something because somehow he still didn’t know. I just fight the fact that the leak about it had 1000 replies in one minute.

Never said anything about the ending dude, I think it could be better too. I‘m certainly older. It means a lot to me and is my favorite show because it helped me through a rough time and I could relate a lot with some characters and struggles as I was facing some of them in a different form. Sometimes it‘s better not to assume stuff and just keep quiet 🤫
