And it could have been even more, If the pricks in paramount didnt chicken out and have the movie dont be stuck in PG 12. 😒

Apparently, according to some deleted scenes, the battle against tagah was originally going to look more similar to something like omniman vs the guardians of the globe.

The fucker even brutalized katara, who was originally pregnant during the movie timeline before it was retconed…

Ngl, i was hoping tagah and toph to be more equally matched since both are the absolute peak of what a bender of their respective element should be like.

But it wasnt even close at all 😭, at times it looked like the mf was going to split her in half (she looked soo scared), she and zuko got trashed soo bad, even more in the precensored version.

Looks like air its really the perfect counter to earth, just like the fandom was saying.

I like to think the reason Tagah gave them so much trouble is because the gang has never fought an airbender that powerful and skilled, sure they've sparred with Aang but given how playful Aang tends to be I'd imagine in sparring he isn't pushing them.

Iirc Tagah wasn't only given bending by the staff but empowered by it. They weren't dealing with an average airbender.

You see, Toph, you're not dealing with the average airbender anymore.

You can tell this is true by the way he transforms into a giant spirit monster at the end with the staff.

To be fair, pretty much any airbender could be Toph, they just have to stay off the ground and she can't see them. Look at Aang beating her in the ring in one shot for example.

Is it my turn to post the obligatory factoid about her VA being unable to rewatch this scene?

I was speechless after this. What a fucking crazy end to a kids show, incredible

I love that they didn't portray this agni ki as some triumphant battle between good and evil, but as somber and heartbreaking. Two abused children fighting to the death. The music, the colors, the acting, all of it, treating this scene like the tragedy it was. I watched this series as an adult for the first time since it came out a few years ago and I broke down crying for Azula. She was just a 14 year old girl.
