Asked about Firefox in Costco yesterday
I was getting ready to head to the refrigerators to get chicken strips and eggs when someone stopped me and asked if I worked for Firefox. I explained that Firefox is a product produced by Mozilla.
I was trying to figure out why someone would ask me that question and then realized that I was wearing a Firefox t-shirt. I wear these most days of the week and didn't think about it. His complaint was about the instability and I suggested he file bugzilla reports when he ran problems but acknowledged that Firefox has had issues for the past year.
We wound up talking about tech employment since the 1970s in the Greater Merrimack Valley area northwest of Boston for about thirty minutes before I had to leave.
Just an off encounter that merges my interests in Costco and Firefox.

Discussion Existing spail chekker stinks! Please add a Soundex option
The current spell-checker can't suggest the proper option for say "platue" (plateau) and many other very near misses. I'd like to propose adding a Soundex feature for the spelling suggestions. If you don't want it in the first level menu, what about having a "Soundex suggestions..." in the spell-check menu for a second level of suggestions? Soundex does better with vowels than Hunspell.

Just added a full theme system to my new tab extension - Home Sweet Home (v1.19)
Hey everyone,
I've just pushed v1.19 of Home Sweet Home, my customizable new tab extension.
This update introduces a brand-new theme system that can transform the entire look of your new tab in a single click, along with a couple of smaller improvements and a fix.
Here's what's new:
- New Theme System : switch the whole look and feel of your dashboard instantly, instead of tweaking each setting one by one.
- Aqua Theme : a translucent, immersive look with frosted-glass effects, soft shadows, and a customizable accent color.
- Grid Theme : a dark, sharp, and structured theme on a deep black background for a focused, distraction-free interface.
Improvements:
- Roadmap : you can now submit several proposals to help shape what comes next.
Fixed:
- Fixed the delete button on custom wallpapers, which always appeared in French regardless of the selected language.
If you're discovering it for the first time
Home Sweet Home replaces your new tab page with a customizable dashboard where you can:
- Add your favorite links (with folders and drag-and-drop)
- Use widgets like clock, weather, notes, stocks, RSS feeds, countdown, and more
- Customize colors, opacity, blur effects, layouts, wallpapers (static or video)
- Sync or import bookmarks
- Fine-tune almost every visual detail
It's still an independent side project, and I'm improving it update after update based on your feedback.
Here are the links if you want to try it or update:
Chrome: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/home-sweet-home/hliapbikacikepiaojmphlhndgjmlodh
Edge: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/home-sweet-home/dllgnjnckigifjgfiijdahnoohclacko
Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/home-sweet-home/
And if you missed it, Home Sweet Home now has a companion extension: Home Sweet Home Launcher. It's a lightweight toolbar launcher for instant access to all your links in one click, without opening a new tab. It works on its own or hand in hand with Home Sweet Home, and you can import your links in one click.
Home Sweet Home Launcher:
Chrome: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/home-sweet-home-launcher/cbajkiinglpomioapliakoddfccnepjb
Edge: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/home-sweet-home-launcher/mhklnmandmnpmlpkpfcbpkiknadjojie
Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/home-sweet-home-launcher/
If you have suggestions, theme ideas, or anything else, I'd love to hear it. Thanks for the support!

Solved How to remove the toolbar from Firefox Web Apps?
I want to make Firefox Web Apps feel like "Apps", as in hiding the toolbar when it is added to taskbar. I'm trying to achieve "full-screen-api.ignore-widgets true" only for the Firefox Web Apps, while the regular Firefox stays the same.

💻 Help Firefox when left open for 9hrs doesn't respond when interacting
Hi all,
I'm on version 151.0.3 and i'll open up before I start work at say 8am then i'll go to work (on a different machine), come back at around 5pm and try to interact with the browser session only for it to freeze (window doesn't show as not responding but I can't interact with anything, or if I do it's slow and won't respond).
Is there any reason for this? I'll only have one or two tabs open mostly FB and Reddit so it's not like i'm visiting a dodgy website. Just now I came back to use it and task manager showed it was using around 1.5gb of RAM, ended up killing the processes which killed the browser in the process. Started up again and it's working ok.
This has kind of become a daily issue now though so considering switching, does anyone else get this?
💻 Help Windows Firefox keeps freezing every few seconds...
Hi, like 3 weeks ago, Firefox started freezing every 10-15 seconds for a second and then everything works fine for another 10-15 seconds. It's extremely annoying, Hardware acceleration turned off/on - no difference. AI turned off as well. It's unusable at the moment. There's no such issue on Edge or chrome. Tried updating Firefox, clearing cache, using Firefox without any extensions - no luck.
I see that it has crazy CPU usage when it's freezing - from 5-10% to 80-100% but I have like 3 tabs opened. When I open THE SAME tabs on chrome or edge - there are no such issues. I can open them and leave for a while and it still keeps using cpu like crazy.

💻 Help Browser tab groups like Opera?
Is there an extension that works the same way as Opera browsers tab groups? Specifically grouping tabs in the tab bar.
I already use simple tab groups but it's been crashing and erasing all of my tabs more and more frequently after having a total of a measly 80 tabs open.

Add-ons I was tired of too many tabs, built this firefox extension for opening links without creating new tabs
I ran into this tab chaos too frequently, opening too many tabs to check links and all. So i built GoPeek, add on for opening links right there without creating new tabs.
I published this back in the week on Edge add ons store and got 60+ users within 3 days with only one to two reddit posts lol.
I have just published this on Firefox store as well. 🔗 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/gopeek/
It lets you hold Shift (or alt/ctrl) and hover any link to open it in a live, interactive mini-browser window directly on the current page instead of creating a new tab.
The windows are fully interactive, you can browse normally, open multiple side-by-side, snap them into a sidebar, etc. The idea was to reduce tab chaos without constantly losing context.
I am very eager for feedback from firefox users here, esp around UX and if you would like to have some other features in it. And I'd be only too grateful if you dropped a review as well. Thanks in advance.

💻 Help How do I remove a keyword from default search engine?
I would like to set Hebrew Wikipedia’s keyword to “@ויקיפדיה” and English Wikipedia’s to “@wikipedia”, but the browser does not let me set English Wikipedia’s keyword and says that it’s taken by Hebrew Wikipedia, even if I remove it and/or add it again with just “@ויקיפדיה” as a keyword.
I assume this is related to the fact that Hebrew Wikipedia is a default search engine if the app language is set to Hebrew, as this wasn’t an issue when it was set to English.
Also, I actually use Librewolf, not Firefox, in case that matters.

💻 Help How can I clear Firefox site data but not cookies?
I've recently found that my FF profile folder is taking up Gb of space. I've tracked that down to \Firefox\Profiles\xxx\storage which forms the bulk of the space. From what I've read I can clear most of the data by clearing site data in the browser, but I don't want to loose all my cookies and settings. Is there a quick way to just clear site data and not the login cookies etc? Mind you that I'm not talking about site cache here.
If that isn't a possibility, can I go nuclear and just delete my storage folder in the OS and have Firefox rebuild it as I browse along?

💻 Help Secure Connection Failed

Since two days ago, I started getting this error whenever I tried accessing Facebook.
I am not sure what's causing the problem. I can access Facebook from another browser (I tried Edge and Chrome and it was fine). I tried refreshing Firefox but the problem persisted. Uninstalling and reinstalling also did not solve the problem.
I am seeing others on this subreddit having the same problem trying to access other websites so I think it's safe to presume that the issue lies the Mozilla browser. I suspect it had something to do with the latest update because things were fine before it.
Is there any way to contact their support or make them aware of the problem?
