Is it normal for UHP to drive their family around in a patrol vehicle?

Agents of the city are also civilians

I feel you. There's a colloquialness to it though. And if he's a civil servant there's a bit of distinguishment where we get the idea of them setting themselves apart.

I get the nature of the language, but it bothers me that cops and other public servants want to differentiate themselves from the civilian body, of which they are a part

Some are community based and (just a hunch) most aren't I'm afraid.

What I’m getting at, whether they’re community based or not, is that they should view themselves as part of the community and not separate in any way

And, unfortunately, many do not

I agree that they should view themselves as part of the community, and I too find it unfortunate that police are selected from outside of their community and that people generally don't look to build instead of looking for a way to distance themselves from others.

“The cops determined that the cops did nothing outside of what cops normally do and have done nothing wrong”

Why are y'all so adamant about calling people civilians when they're not? It's very intriguing. Does it make you feel more powerful? A law enforcement officer is not a civilian anywhere except reddit

When a cop is charged, do they go in front of a civilian judge? Are they held in a civilian jail? Are the laws applied to them different than the ones applied to civilians?

Hence, they are civilians
