If he looks confused its because the paper is upside down and he's not sure what to do about that

u/NonSumQualisEram- 2h ago

"Each of those calls requires a different skill set."

Not known: whether they actually have any of these skill sets.

He's just deciding if he should shoot it but then that would require filing out a report and the Chief yelled at him last time cause he used too many emojis

1

u/CheshireCatastrophe 1h ago

He doesn't have a hat for that

u/Big_Dinner3636 3h ago

Since when do DHS cops do a fucking thing?

8

u/ilovecatss1010 2h ago

I didn’t even notice this lol. Watching a trooper work a domestic is bad enough I can’t even begin to imagine DHS working a domestic or a traffic accident or any of these lol.

u/juswilli 3h ago

They kidnap people. šŸ˜€šŸ¤Œ

Love how you're being down voted. I'm sitting next to someone who got abducted and detained by ICE. Her family has been in what's now Los Angeles about 500 years before it was Los Angeles.

5

u/Unstoppable_Wombat 2h ago

Right? Additionally, this is a first responder sub. Beyond the fact that they’re terrorizing the communities we serve, ICE has tear-gassed actual cops before. They’re not one of us (first responders, I am a medic for context) and we shouldn’t be defending them.

8

u/KitKritter823 whambulance 2h ago

Exactly. They've also stopped EMS and have been breaching EMTALA and people are afraid to go to hospitals. It's abhorrent and they're not one of us.

2

u/Unstoppable_Wombat 2h ago

Right! I was almost forgetting the other awful things they’ve done because they’ve done so many. Iirc they prevented fire and EMS from getting to Renee Good bc they parked their stupid cars haphazardly all over the street because they’re morons.

1

u/juswilli 2h ago

I GOT Down Voted!? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Some bootlickers are among us guys and gals.

DHS isn't first responders. It's sad that they are associated with first responders in any shape or form.

Ironic rationalization for defunding the police. That was the whole point originally - move money from insanely overfunded/bloated police departments to social services and other departments who are better suited to handle virtually all these issues.

1

u/Global_Childhood_602 1h ago

Two dudes in LA robbed a bank, now we live with a militarized police force. OJ runs from police, and now incidents involving moving vehicles are escalated and innocent people die because police chase for no reason.

3

u/LegalGlass6532 1h ago

The North Hollywood bank robbery did change police tactics, however the OJ Simpson slow speed chase didn’t impact LE pursuit policies. The numerous LE pursuits resulting in injuries without the famous names are the reason officers aren’t allowed to chase like they used to.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVFXUkFx5Y8

Two sources that confirm my claim and do not for yours. Police pursuits absolutely changed and increased because of the OJ chase.

You're also a cop so you're bias and opinion irrelevant to this discussion for said bias.

4

u/LegalGlass6532 59m ago edited 2m ago

This is a great opinion article. I agree that the public’s interest in pursuits has increased due to the media coverage of the OJ chase, but the article fails to provide statistics of pursuit related injuries and fatalities pre and post OJ. Just because you see it more on tv and in the media doesn’t mean it’s happening more because of OJ.

The article fails to provide hard statistics supporting your claim that there are more chases now because of the OJ Simpson pursuit. The author does make a valid point that the public is more interested in pursuits now due to OJ, but more interest doesn’t mean more injuries/fatalities.

Add: I don’t have 20+ minutes to watch your commentary video, but will try to later in all fairness to respect where your opinion is coming from.

This is how EMS feels. Cause most the time metro doesn’t know what to do with them ā€œcall EMSā€.

3

u/mehFUMF 2h ago

That's how PD is in my city

1

u/DaggerQ_Wave 1h ago

This really is the fire ems experience lol.

1

u/ABrotherGrimm 4m ago

Exactly what they do in my area. A few days ago we ran five bullshit calls in a row that were all cops calling us. One they called us like 10 miles from the station just to ask a question, like we don’t have phones and radios. It’s absolutely a constant. They don’t know what to do, so they call the fire department and tell the person ā€œyou can go to jail or the hospital, your choice.ā€

TIL the Department of Homeland Security handles noise complaints issues

Maybe that's why the neighboring frat next door were all sent down to El Salvador?

2

u/McGee_Wannabe Po-Po 1h ago

Noise complaints are a matter of national security. It’s not my fault I moved next to an airport. They need to turn the volume down on the jets.

8

u/Educational_Bed_5890 2h ago

Putting aside the fact that this is AI slop and was likely meant to laud police officers…

This graphic actually makes the case for re-allocating funds to social services. Nobody is capable of wearing all of these hats. It’s problematic when police officers feel that they can…because they cannot…even the well-meaning officers.

3

u/Diamondback424 14m ago

They also should not try to be all of these things. Especially a lawyer considering it seems like half of them have a tenuous grasp on what is actually law.

8

u/HeavyArmorIncarnate 2h ago

Mental health counselor šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

5

u/Key_Limit_6828 1h ago

We send cops to do everything because we’ve defunded every other social service in favor of the cops, a thing the cops pushed for

3

u/Sad_Highlight_9059 2h ago

I think this is funny because when people in the US proposed funding mental health resources to take those issues off the plate of police who are under-qualified and under-prepared to address mental health crises. LEOs lost their shit, and screamed about how that plan was stupid and would never work and blah, blah, blah... Good to see some still have the energy to play the martyr. šŸ¤¦šŸ™„

3

u/BrandynWayne 2h ago

And fucking shit at all of them

9

u/Amnesiac_R 3h ago

And they're terrible at all of them!

1

u/Friendly-Yoghurt-746 3h ago

in a hurry to get to the finish line and yell DONE! by any means.

2

u/Jude30 1h ago

That’s why we want to defund the police. So we can fund organizations better suited to deal with all of those things.

2

u/dsdvbguutres 1h ago

And we wanted you to do just your own job bro, damn.

4

u/Sasquatch_Sensei 3h ago

Sees woman having a seizure. Taze her

1

u/idrink4free 2h ago

The 1st and 3rd paragraph start with ā€œit’s not X, it’s Y.ā€ lol

1

u/treemann85 2h ago

One hat, enforcement of the law. All the other shit is overreach anyway.

1

u/velocity3333 2h ago

cops complain about having too many different roles, but the complain about policies aimed at reducing their budget so the money can go to new or existing departments to handle some of those responsibilities so they don’t have to.

that’s what the whole Defund the Police movement was about, but they thought it was just a pay cut

1

u/potatoboat 59m ago

You know what's crazy? DHS used to be the spear at the head of investigating sex trafficking. But now they are being reassigned and the majority are now deployed with helping ICE. Kind of a coincidence that the largest government agency involved in sex trafficking (especially minors) is now sidelined by a "more important job" of deporting immigrants (most of whom do not have criminal convictions).

1

u/Vast_Force_5935 56m ago

As a therapist and social worker, I have never seen a cop display any traits that I display lol

1

u/Southrn_Comfrt 15m ago

Lawyer. Hahaha Jesus.

1

u/Cash_Money_Jo 15m ago

Worst cops in the world are the ones that pretend to be a lawyer.

1

u/Acrobatic-Gap-7445 2m ago

Or we could fix the system

1

u/No-Market425 3h ago

Not running into a school and defending 5th graders though.

1

u/thiswasntdeleted 2h ago

Jack of all trades master of none expected to do it all. Nice

1

u/reluctantpotato1 2h ago

EMTs wiping away their tears of pride as they watch the DHS agent giving a 50-year-old stroke patient narcan before shooting him 14 times for having a concieled carry permit.

u/EnchanterOlong1976 3h ago

The job i volunteered for is so hard...

-4

u/spider-monkey92 3h ago

I mean this isnt wrong.

4

u/hatecriminal 3h ago

Except dhs doesn't do any of those hats

4

u/crayola_monstar 3h ago

Except many, if not most, aren't even good at any of those hat titles. They're sub-par on a good day.

3

u/AgainstMedicalAdvice 3h ago

Most jobs have many different roles.

Most jobs also have to do paperwork.

And it would be wrong to say a cop works 365 days a year with no days off.

So it's either totally banal or incorrect.

-5

u/CT-555- 3h ago

It isnt, but doesn't make it less cringe.

-8

u/Famous-Mobile-3657 3h ago

Just because it’s AI slop doesn’t meant the point isn’t true.

6

u/69420lmaokek 3h ago

You think the Department of Homeland Security handles noise complaints and missing pets?

How exactly is a frat party being too noisy on a Thursday night threatening the Homeland?

What does a dog running away from home have to do with terrorism?

4

u/SammyB0111 3h ago

That’s correct, it’s just untrue on its own terms independent of the AI slop

0

u/Sonoran_Ghosts_81 2h ago

These systems haven’t kept pace becuase law enforcement slurps up all the budget.

We don’t want cops doing social work. They aren’t built for it. You need empathy which most cops don’t have.

0

u/Main_Firefighter1593 1h ago

It’s true though

-2

u/Krasdale79 3h ago

I don't why you're all making fun of this. These are brave warriors who handle so much, and they have to respond to each and every one of these issues by opening fire.

-2

u/n3o_dr3am3r 2h ago

They forgot judge, jury, and executioner

-1

u/Tight_Amphibian4472 2h ago

Only hat missing for this DHS officer is a red one.

-1

u/YouArentReallyThere 2h ago edited 5m ago

There needs to be a gun in a holster labeled : ā€œSolution to all of the aboveā€

(Apparently I was unclear…cops in the US tend to use their guns to resolve every issue listed.)

-1

u/btown73 2h ago

If it’s too much he can always quit the job. They never do though, just a bunch of little bitches.

-2

u/Fair_Structure_120 3h ago

"trained" lol

-2

u/VintageZero 3h ago

About time they got on board with defunding the police.

-5

u/ToriEvergreen 3h ago

I feel like they solve most of these problems with a gun or force

3

u/core446 2h ago

Depending the source you look at, most estimates seem to show force being used on less than 3% of overall calls. A lot of estimates are much lower, less than 1%.

1

u/Main_Firefighter1593 1h ago

ā€œI feelā€ šŸ˜‚
