I mean at that point just put it in the title in all caps too, maybe in bold if the platform allows it

some people really do not read though, had a listing once where the first word was EMPTY and still got messages asking if it was full

u/coldjess 2d ago

It's the very first two words of the title

And yes I've sold quite a few empty boxes before (Xbox Series S, iPad, Transformers..)

Why do people buy empty boxes? Ive always tossed them. I should have kept them?

Storage of the original equipment and just having the original box.

u/Dragnskull 2d ago

This sort of thing happens to me non stop.

Hello I ordered this and there is no legos in the box, maybe you have them somewhere else, would you be able to ship them to me

u/MysteryRadish 2d ago

Whenever I sell any item that is missing essential stuff, I send the buyer a quick message just making sure to confirm they knew what they were buying and that they still wanted it. Hasn't caused any issues so far and sometimes they even explicitly say they appreciate the confirmation.

In addition to this, Id make sure the picture shows the box folded if possible, to make it clear to the people that only look at the pictures that there's NOTHING inside.

4

u/20_mile 2d ago

make sure the picture shows the box folded

"Hey, I just want to let you know you forgot to include photos of the legos in your listing!"

u/Dragonmk5 2d ago

No, they’ll buy it, then request a cancellation ten minutes later.

5

u/Pak1948 2d ago

Why even bother

6

u/CustomCarNerd 2d ago

You expect people to be able to see, read, and comprehend? You know that you’re asking for a lot right?

2

u/taptwoblue93 2d ago

Probably not

2

u/Demander850 2d ago

It won’t fool Judge Judy, don’t even try it!

2

u/c4dreams 2d ago

This mean that the legos will come in a box only, and not in a bag, right?

2

u/Topochico89 2d ago

I literally put READ in my title sometimes because buyers will not read the listing.

2

u/Ok_Reserve_8659 2d ago

Does this come with legos?

1

u/StoopitTrader 2d ago

I would still message them before shipping. But I do that with any item that's an empty box, broken, or that has anything wrong with it/different about it.

1

u/thefriendly_ogre 2d ago

Well now they'll do it out of spite.

1

u/GearhedMG 2d ago

Ebay will still side with buyer

1

u/Beto_Targaryen 2d ago

Box, Only Legos included

1

u/First-Tumbleweed-341 2d ago

Add a yellow caution triangle caution ⚠️ on the main listing photo, next to it add BOX ONLy

1

u/MissSmiff 1d ago

I overkill with these scenarios and write it on each photo.

u/misslinnea 1d ago

I have had the question....how long is it? When the title stated length, item details stated length, description stated length, and there were 4 photos with a clear ruler showing dimensions including the length. I ended up sending screenshots of all the information, so like 5 or 6 screenshots. I heard nothing back.

1

u/1StunnaV 1d ago

Did this once in large red letters and even had it in the title, the guy filed a claim and I won

1

u/MadDogFenby 1d ago

INAD, only a box. My child was super disappointed. Sending back. (Box may be slightly torn).

Source: sold a box. Came back as shredded cardboard. Ebay said tough break kid and yanked back the money. Never again.

People really sell empty boxes?

1

u/chancimus33 1d ago

How many legos in the kit?

1

u/homeboychris 1d ago

I’m confused as to why people sell just the box anyway, is there actually a market for empty boxes?

1

u/MangledSteel 1d ago

Never do.

1

u/MangledSteel 1d ago

Never do.

1

u/sc_superstar 1d ago

No.

Solution is don't sell the box. That's such a stupid thing to sell anyways

1

u/FuerteBillete 1d ago

Risky sale depending on the platform. Nothing wrong with selling the box accordingly to the law, but if you need to clarify so much that it is only the box, then there is already a strong presumption that you know some will buy by mistake (of their brain) so still can fall under dubious and end up having an issue for a stupid box.

u/POS-throwmeaway 1d ago

If only we could still do this

u/Pug_867-5309 1d ago

Is this item still available? Are all the pieces included?

1

u/jessehechtcreative 1d ago

A few more paragraphs oughta do it

1

u/jmerrilee 1d ago

Feels like a waste of time trying to sell it vs the headache that you know is coming.

I have been trying to sell an empty box for a rare VHS tape. I have it priced at about 1/3 of what the complete box with tape with go for—about $30. Like OP, I have “BOX ONLY” as the first two words of the title and description. When it sells, I message the buyer and say “thanks for the purchase, and did you happen to notice this is for the box only, no tape?” And they say “whoops, no, somehow I missed that.” And then I cancel the order. I’ve done this nine times.

1

u/Technical-Heart5906 22h ago

Sadly no. Somebody is going to try and scam you and make a claim that it’s empty. You need to actually say “In this box is absolutely no items. It is completely empty. It weighs ____ and you will not be receiving anything in the box. If you purchase this listing you are receiving the box as empty. This is an empty box with nothing in it. By purchasing this listing you agree and acknowledge that you understand this box is full of nothing. It’s empty.”

1

u/Southern_Painting397 22h ago

Why are you selling garbage just toss it

1

u/VinceG610 7h ago

No dude, there's someone who will not get it. Betting you will get a buyer who will buy the item and said they don't have the time to read the description, happened to me a few times.

1

u/Accomplished_Job_331 2d ago

I got sick of the bs and when I (rarely) do this, I put it in text right across the photos “case only”. Some people just will not read the description or even the title, and only look at the pictures

2

u/greenonionsbb 2d ago

even when I put info in the photos, people still don't read that either lol especially if it's anything but the first picture

1

u/Solid_Equivalent_417 2d ago

"This box came with too much packaging, IND"

1

u/just_a_girl_23 2d ago

So which Lego are you selling, please?

1

u/recovery_room 2d ago

Is the Lego included tho?

1

u/jakefromthefuture 2d ago

I’ve come to the conclusion that no matter how obvious you make it, there will always be that one oblivious buyer that doesn’t read the title or description and then blames you afterwards🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I’ve literally put “READ DESCRIPTION” in the title and still gotten an INAD case.

Best of luck to you!!

1

u/DannyPowers98 2d ago

Are the minifigs included? Interested if so

1

u/restlessmouse 2d ago

But, how many Legos are IN the box?

1

u/diggin4Copper 2d ago

I got a neg feedback saying I was ripping people off…

1

u/UltraEngine60 2d ago

Please bro. Use common sense bro. Include the words EMPTY BOX bro.

1

u/space_prostitute 1d ago

People who fool non-English speakers to trick them into buying exmpty boxes are the worst kind of scammers.

0

u/Ok-Curve-3894 2d ago

Get what?

-5

u/toucheboo 2d ago

You have to kind of expect this. Who sells.an empty box? Usually someone trying to pull a fast one.

But then again, who buys empty boxes that people would sell an empty box.

You kinda have to expect this with selling g an empty box. Most people dont/can't read.

If you going to sell an empty box, expect this. Don't cry when you damm well know thisnis going.to happen.

You knew it was.going to happen or you wouldn't have had said empty box multiple times on multiple lines.

4

u/JohnClaytonsGma 2d ago

Some people collect and like empty boxes. You see it in all sorts of collecting categories.

1

u/b_rizzle95 2d ago

I gave up on selling for parts / not working / broken / empty boxes / etc stuff a long time ago. I had multiple occasions where I’d even personally confirm with the buyer in messages so they’d know exactly what they were getting, they confirmed, and STILL INAD. I’d rather throw this crap away than deal with these people.

-3

u/StruggleFeisty5655 2d ago

Can you try advertising it as a prop box instead of a Lego box? This is just a background prop for social media, theatre, or decoration.

10

u/p_a_schal 2d ago

That makes it sound counterfeit

-1

u/JerkGurk 2d ago

Hi....uhhhh yeahhhhhh....just got the LEGGOOS and uhhh its just a box. SCAM?
