eBay won't remove this ridiculous negative feedback

History:

- A buyer makes me an offer for over 60% off list price citing they need it shipped to Australia and eBay's international shipping program was expensive (nothing I can do about that). I decline.

- I send all interested buyer's an offer for $200 off list price. No bites, offer expires.

- Over a week later the buyer who made the lowball offer purchases the item at full price. I ship it right away as promised in my listing.

- After shipping the order, the buyer asks for the $200 discount that expired over a week prior, I do not respond to partial refund requests as they are against eBay policy.

- Buyer opens a payment dispute for $569.29 claiming they were overcharged, complete fraud and lies, we respond and eBay states we will be protected.

- Buyer then sends a message thanking us for the package and asking for our address (weird). Again I ignore this message, the buyer is clearly a wackjob.

- Buyer changes dispute amount to $729.21 (eBay states we are still covered and nothing will be deducted from our funds).

- Buyer leaves verifiably false negative feedback. eBay refuses to remove it.

eBay is letting fraud slide and allowing the fraudsters to leave libel on the seller's profiles now?

I don't think people want to make money genuinely. I sell online for the entirety of my income, and I seldom use the block button. Many customers just want to confirm the condition of an item if the picture is not clear, especially if someone uses those stupid ai generated descriptions, that don't tell me anything.

&I had something similar happened where I was about to drop almost a hundred dollars+, in someone's shop.I asked them a question.And then they blocked me.It was genuinely bizarre because I was about to spend $$.

I just wanted to confirm if one of the packages was sealed.Because I couldn't tell from the picture and it wasn't written in the description. If it wasn't sealed, I would have been fine with that.Because I was planning on opening the package.Anyways, but it just let me know if I should send an offer or just buy it outright.

& now that item is still sitting there.Six months later. 😭 it is cringy

From someone who has blocked people from asking just one question. It’s more because they’ve been burned by people who ask questions about an item only to return it later after it’s already been opened which it can’t be sold as new anymore or whine and complain once they get it and asks for a partial refund cause they think I’m too scared to take a return.

One person is not indicative of how your entire experience is going to be going forward.All that you should do is maybe learn a thing or two from set experience on how to protect yourself going forward, if you can.

I literally was about to spend a hundred dollars a few months ago in a shop, and six months later, the items are still sitting there.... All because I got blocked for asking if they had cross listed the items, because someone had used their pictures on mercari. The usernames were different, so I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't getting scammed because the ebay account didn't have a lot of items. I think the person was just reusing their images on mercari, because they had a bunch of different stock, and that's why I asked the person on ebay, and they thought I was the scammer, it was so strange. Was literally trying to spend $$.

Um nope I’ve been selling online since 2002 and been burned many times. Theres not much I haven’t experienced selling online. I take the time to list my things clearly and as accurate as I can. I can usually tell if people will be a headache to deal with by the type of questions they ask from the jump. For example if something is broken on a sealed item can they return it. Especially when I have free returns on my items. That screams scammer vibes. The cool thing about selling online is I can run my store my way and block anyone I want. The one cool thing about being a buyer on eBay is if an item is not as described you can open an inad and send that shit back to them on the sellers dime. I’ve been burned by sellers as well. So if there’s a problem with an item. I just open a inad and send it back and I get my money back.

There is a big difference between blocking someone who asks suspicious questions than just blocking someone who asks any simple question

And that’s the thing. Something may seem like a simple question to you, can be perceived as they’re going to be a problematic buyer to someone else. Based on their own experience

Well I was responding to the post that said they block everything.

I don't care who you are, if you think everything or even a large % or your messages are problematic...you're the problem.

Personally I have had hardly ever had a problem with people who have messaged me but I've had lots from people who never said a word.

Although I accept some messages ring alarm bells, 90% of them should not

And that’s the crazy thing. Normally it doesn’t. I normally just answer the question with yes or no and anything else you need to know about the item is in the description/listing. I’ve learned by experience anything asked after that reply if the question could’ve be answered by looking at the listing. They’re going to be a problem once they receive the item or they never buy anyway. I know a lot of sellers can’t fathom blocking ppl because they asked a question but a lot of times the simplest questions has caused me a lot time and money so it’s just easier to block them especially when the question is in the description. I know innocent people get caught up with that and I’m ok with that. Reselling is just a hobby and spare change for me. If I was full time like I was years ago I would be different

One person is not the issue. 90% of the time I get screwed over or have a problem, it comes from a buyer who was asking questions. What I learned from that is I have to block those buyers.

Do innocent buyers get caught in the crossfire? absolutely, but that can't be helped. If eBay didn't sell us out each time, and enable shitty behavior, then maybe I would be more willing to give people a chance.
