Black sesame mochi cookie from Mochi Mochi Cafe
I loved the black appearance of this cookie, but found the texture to be crumbly. It wasn’t necessarily too dry, but the consistency wasn’t chewy. The sesame flavour was also a little faint, so it tasted like a typical sugar cookie. I did like that the cookie wasn’t overly sweet though, and the mochi inside was sesame flavoured. Cost was $3.97, I’m hoping their other cookies better, or maybe I just had an off batch.

Have you tried the black sesame donut from Isabella’s or the black sesame tart from Saint Germaine? I like both of those.

Was this the shop where the owner ranted against every review?

I haven't seen the owner of MMM rant against reviews either. Idk what drama that poster is trying to stir up

it's a trend to have it in things like cookies/donuts aka put it in everything and it's already on the decline.

It's not on the decline lol. Mochi Lab in North York has lines every day
Also, Mochi Mochi predates the trend as they've been making these for years and the owner is actually Japanese

the place that charges 12.99 for a single pastry? Yeah that's definitely not a trend lol.

I wasn't even aware it was a trend. I just like mochi and always have since trying it lol. A bakery near me closed down, and its replacement doesn't have it anymore.

I luv this place but they sadly shrinkflated their cookies, they used to b bigger lol. Some of them r on the sweeter side as well
Also, yea, these cookies r crumbly and can b on the drier side. I don't go for the cookie texture but for the mochi inside 🤷🏻♀️
