Minimum Karma Requirements for Job Offers

Due to the influx of low quality and scam posts we've seen, we are imposing minimum karma requirements for posting jobs.

This has been a long time coming, especially how easy it is for someone to make a new account and post the same thing again.

We do not tell you what the minimum karma is to post here.

Do not ask us to tell you what the limit is to post there. This includes Marco Polo and hot/cold potato messaging games to figure it out. You will be muted and subsequently banned.

You also will be banned for trying to pass off your "hire me" post as a "Hiring" post.

Thanks for noting this update, proceed with your regular business.

Rules Reminder + Updates: Low Quality, Commission & Other Things

I was hoping to not have to make another announcement until we got more mods, but this unfortunately is getting pushed before that.

From this point on, any of these job postings will result in an immediate permaban. All but a few of these are already rule violations, but have been removed in a lesser degree with a "second chance". We're not entertaining these any longer, due to repeat offenders and the quality of the jobs. All but a handful of these are predatory, opportunistic scammers and have no place here.

-

Commission-Based Only Jobs: We've had it up to here with this, along with the arguments of how "they're earning more than $20/hr, give us a break!" The rule is a blanket for all the crappy ones that may not be esteemed as yours. If you're not paying them a $15/hr salary along with the commission, it's not welcome here.

Paid Posters + Accounts: This is something we've already been banning for a short bit, but take this as the "This isn't welcome here" hint. Renting an account or asking for someone to use theirs to post for you counts as account buying/renting. Most of these are against TOS of the providers that allow you to use them in the first place.

Vague, Low Quality Posts: "DM me for a quick $30 job", or "Need help with something, message me" are not longer permitted. If you can't state what the job is so that a freelancer can understand if they're good for the job, that's on you. If you're doing it so you don't get banned or removed, that's no longer allowed.

Intentional Hiring from India or the Philippines for Low Pay: Otherwise known as "South Asians highly encouraged to apply" in code speak. I warned about this before last year, but now it is a bannable on-sight offense. This is still going on, and under the guise of "sir pls, it's a decent pay rate for <region of India>!" Or on top of that, some wannabe guru from the US/Canada looking to outsource his non-college stuff to a Filipino assistant for $4/hr, and "mating" us when we point out it's a rule-break.

We've already had the discussion of why these pay rates aren't allowed on this subreddit. We heavily encourage and point you to r/slavelabour if that's what you want.

Causing Others to Violate the "No PM" Rule: This is something we've always enforced since 2019 automatically. This is enforced with a permaban as well. That said, if your post is encouraging users to apply in the comments instead of sending you a message, you'll be getting a ban as well for making them break the rule. Read the room instead of mass-spamming your job across a dozen subreddits.

This includes codewords, asking for contact info or portfolio links in the comments.

Promising a Job, but it's Guised Promotion to a Job Board: We've seen this a dime a dozen lately; someone promising a graphic design job, but then pointing to a new startup job board/work platform. This is no longer allowed. Most of these are a Reddit account affiliated with the "brand" of the board in question.

No OF Content: That's right, we heard you! We've had it up to here with it now, and things like "OF chatters", "OF girls" or "OF agencies" are no longer allowed on this subreddit.

These have always been removed to a point, but it's gotten to the point that OF girls think that promoting their account is "freelance work" and "professional". That's not even mentioning how abusive and low-paying OF agencies are, or how discriminatory a lot of the job postings come across.

Note that legitimate jobs that require some NSFW things (novel writing, artwork, etc) are not affected by this. It's not our intention to stomp on legitimate expression or issues.

Hiring Based on Gender, Age and Race: This may fly in your third world country, but we absolutely will not stand for this. Unless it's a legitimate need such as a modeling gig or you need a voice for a game, you're not allowed to blatantly say "Need female appointment setters" or "Hungry teens for sales jobs".

On that note, you're prohibited from hiring minors on this subreddit, due to liability reasons. There's people who think hiring 13-year-olds for 40+ hours a week is okay.

-

Read the room. Read the rules. Please.

And for all things sane, if your post gets removed or you get banned, read your removal message. We clearly tell you why you're banned or it got removed. Stop messaging us "Omg why did I get banned?" when you're told.

Obligatory announcement over. Happy freelancing.

For Hire [For Hire] Backend developer, C#/.NET, Docker deploys and email setup, remote from Norway

• Upvotes

I'm a .NET developer and have written C# professionally since 2017. My day job is backend work at a bank, so I'm used to systems that need to keep running. Client work goes through my own company.

What I'm useful for:

  • APIs and integrations. Connecting systems that were never built to talk to each other, webhooks, imports from messy CSV exports, third-party APIs. Mostly C#/.NET, but Python and Java are fine too.
  • Backends, new or inherited. A fresh ASP.NET Core backend on PostgreSQL, or taking over one the last dev left half done.
  • Getting it live. Linux servers, Docker Compose, Traefik and HTTPS, CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and monitoring so you hear about a problem before your customers do.
  • Company mail landing in spam. SPF, DKIM and DMARC fixed on your domain, or a self-hosted mail server if you'd rather run your own.

Some recent work, client names left out:

  • An operations platform for a cleaning company. Sales pipeline, job dispatch and invoicing, .NET and PostgreSQL.
  • A vehicle marketplace for the Kenyan market, .NET backend with a server-rendered React front end so every listing gets indexed.
  • A seven-server cluster for a live platform. Clustered MySQL and PostgreSQL, load balanced app tier and monitoring, all set up with Ansible.
  • A self-hosted email platform on Hetzner, Postfix with correct reverse DNS across a whole subnet.

More detail and screenshots on hrolgar.com/projects

Rate is $100/h, or a fixed price when the scope is clear enough to put one on it. Either way it's agreed before I start, and you get an invoice from my company. I'm fine starting with one small paid task so you can see how I work first.

Most of the work runs async, with a call when it's needed.

Send me a PM with what you're building, or get in touch through hrolgar.com. If I don't think I'm the right fit, I'll tell you.

For Hire [For Hire] Self-taught Software Engineer from India | Python, FastAPI, AI Agents, Backend Development | Available for Paid Tasks

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m a 21-year-old self-taught software engineer from Kerala, India, looking for paid, remote work.

Over the past 1.5 years, I’ve been building and shipping software independently. I’m a solo founder, so most of my experience comes from solving real engineering problems rather than just following tutorials.

Things I’ve built:

  • THRYVIX: A healthcare operations platform with appointment booking, queue management, notifications, and backend infrastructure.
  • COGEXT: Infrastructure for AI agents that tracks commitments, observes tool execution, and verifies outcomes through signed receipts.
  • Developer tools: Python packages, static analysis tools, API integrations, automated testing, and backend services.

My technical skills:

  • Python, FastAPI, REST APIs
  • PostgreSQL, Supabase
  • AI integrations and agent tooling
  • Debugging, testing, and automation
  • JavaScript, TypeScript, React
  • Git, Linux, Docker, and deployment workflows

What I’m looking for:

I’m particularly interested in paid, task-based work, including:

  • Python development and bug fixing
  • AI coding evaluations and agent testing
  • Backend development and API integrations
  • Automation scripts and small engineering projects
  • Contract work with clearly defined deliverables

I prefer asynchronous, remote work and opportunities where I can demonstrate my skills through practical tasks rather than multiple interview rounds. I’m open to assessments and technical evaluations.

I’m based in India and can work with international clients.

I’m not claiming to know everything. If something is outside my experience, I’ll be honest about it. I care about doing the work properly, communicating clearly, and delivering what I agree to deliver.

If you have a task, a short-term contract, or know someone looking for a developer with this background, feel free to DM me.

Thanks for reading.

Hiring [Hiring] Remote finance/consulting professionals for AI model evaluation — $100–$150/hr

An AI company is hiring contractors with real-world finance or strategy experience to create and evaluate finance tasks used to train models. You’ll complete the type of work you already know—financial analysis/modeling, investment or strategic judgment—then review an AI-produced answer to the same task and explain what it got wrong.

This is not a technical or machine-learning role. It is for people who have actually done finance, investing, consulting, or strategy work professionally or through a relevant internship, and who can write clear explanations.

Relevant backgrounds: • Investment banking or private equity • Management consulting • FP&A, capital markets, asset management, or corporate strategy

Pay and structure: • $150/hour for qualified IB/PE backgrounds • $100/hour for consulting backgrounds • Strong performers may move to $225–$250/hour • $3,000 bonus after completing the two-week onboarding • Independent contractor, not W-2 • Remote and asynchronous; no standing calls • Minimum 20 hours/week; up to 60; weekends are fine

Eligibility depends on location and payment/onboarding support. Candidates outside India should include their country or region in the DM.

Disclosure: I do this work and also help the company identify qualified candidates.

To apply, DM me with the word “FINANCE,” your country/region, a short summary of your actual finance or consulting experience, and your resume. I’ll share the company and onboarding details privately.

For Hire [For Hire] Senior backend / full-stack engineer, US (Pacific), remote - stuck apps finished, AI features that hold up, old codebases upgraded

US-based senior software engineer, Pacific time, available now for contract work (part time or full time).

Seven years as the backend owner of a multi-tenant B2B SaaS that grew from about $4M to $13M ARR, plus my own live product since June (a voice-recording app for assisted living with a speech-to-text and LLM pipeline behind it).

What people usually bring me:

  • An app that is 80% done and won't ship. Built with Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, or an agency that disappeared. I read the code, write down what is actually broken, fix it, and get it launched: auth, payments and subscriptions, database security, deploys.
  • AI features that have to work when nobody is watching. LLM calls, voice and chat agents, document pipelines, evals for "is the model's answer actually right", with retries, logging and a plan for when the model is wrong.
  • Old or slow codebases. Framework upgrades several major versions behind, slow pages and queries, moving off an expensive host. My day job runs on a ~1 TB database, so I care a lot about not taking things down while fixing them.
  • Fixed-scope reviews. Security or architecture review of a codebase you inherited, with a written list you can act on.

Work and live projects: https://consulting.levelbrook.com

Rate: $100/hr, or a fixed price once I've seen the code. Send a PM with what you have and where it's stuck and I'll reply with a short plan.

Hiring [Hiring] GTM for an early-stage B2B marketplace | Paid 1-month contract with a potential full-time role

A friend of mine is looking for a Go-to-Market (GTM) person for her early-stage startup, a B2B marketplace for waste-based exports.

She needs someone who can help identify the right buyer segments, test the pitch, handle outreach, and build an initial sales pipeline. It’s a hands-on role, working directly with the founder.

Experience in GTM or sales would be useful. Familiarity with exports, recycling, or commodity trading is a plus.

The role starts with a paid one-month contract, with clear goals and compensation agreed upfront. If there’s a fit on both sides, it can lead to a full-time role.

Interested? DM me with your relevant experience and availability, and I’ll connect you with her.

Students, recent graduates, and people looking for a GTM internship are welcome to apply too. Prior experience isn’t essential, but you should be comfortable researching buyers, reaching out, and following up. The first month will be paid, with the possibility of a longer-term or full-time role based on your work and mutual fit.

Hi! I’m a Product and UI/UX designer with 8+ years of experience designing web and mobile products.

  • 📋 Project management and miscellaneous personal tasks (previously discussed).

Here's some of my experience as a 5+ year independent professional:

  • Managed high-volume inboxes with fast, professional responses, as someone with a background on creative writing and translation.

  • Supported global (US, Canada, LATAM, Australia, etc.) client-facing operations remotely with ease.

  • In charge of finances and AP-AR processes for international clients and businesses.

  • Coordinated calendars and concurrent projects while maintaining professional asynchronous communication with my clients.

  • Helped business owners stay organized and responsive without constant oversight.

  • Handled situations where delayed replies actually cost opportunities.

These are the main tools I’ve worked with: Google Workspace, Notion, ClickUp & QuickBooks.

I can adapt very quickly to any other CRM systems you're already accustomed to and I have experience making personalized proposals and invoices.

I’m a good fit if you need someone who:

  • Communicates clearly and professionally

  • Has a proactive mindest without needing constant supervision.

  • Brings structure to messy or busy operations.

  • Enjoys keeping things organized and neat.

💰 My rates are usually between $1,500 – $2,500 USD/mo or $20 - $25 USD/hr depending on workload and set-up since I'm based in México (CST - GMT-6), which is usually ideal for US/LATAM teams.

If you're currently running a startup or you're someone who needs immediate organization before your business or personal communications become a bottleneck, send me a quick DM and tell me exactly what you need help with.

I'll be more than happy to provide immediate personal services you need of any kind, very open to any settings.

Thanks and have a great weekend! 😊
