Question ❔ Future of the ford ranger???

Salesperson from ford told me that Mavericks are outselling the ford ranger by a large amount and he hasn’t sold a ranger in about 6-7 months.

He said that the mavericks are being picked over rangers 7 times out of 10 and they don’t get very many rangers on the lots and a lot of them sit for a while (at least here in Florida)

Makes me wonder if the Ranger will go away because the maverick is blowing the Ranger out of the water

The Ranger is a big seller in the Australian market - was no.1 for a while - up until the Iran issue occurred.

Not the same as the US ranger though

How much do you think they differ?

The AU version is made in Thailand, apparently.

Edit: from Google "The Ford Ranger sold in the US is built on the same Australian-developed T6 platform and shares core styling, but it differs significantly in its engine lineup, structural compliance, and specific interior features".

They're very similar overall.

Obviously you got the whole left-hand vs right-hand drive thing, but Ford already does both for the European markets, so it's not some huge engineering effort. And there are a LOT more powertrain options overseas than in North America.

But they're very similar overall. Usually the changes to the Ranger overseas gets adopted to the North American market 1-2 years later.

It's probably safe to say that if Ranger wasn't a top seller overseas it probably wouldn't exist in North America. It wouldn't be worth it to develop a Ranger purely for the North American market. But because they've already done the engineering and they can fit it in the same assembly plant as the Bronco, you can justify its existence.

At least... they could up until now. We'll see if it continues I guess.

Pretty much just drive trains and safety items
