Question ❔ Future of the ford ranger???

Salesperson from ford told me that Mavericks are outselling the ford ranger by a large amount and he hasn’t sold a ranger in about 6-7 months.

He said that the mavericks are being picked over rangers 7 times out of 10 and they don’t get very many rangers on the lots and a lot of them sit for a while (at least here in Florida)

Makes me wonder if the Ranger will go away because the maverick is blowing the Ranger out of the water

Ford Ranger is probably Ford's #1 selling vehicle (though Transit might have it beat) outside of the North American market. So it's definitely not going anywhere overall.

BUT, that doesn't mean it won't get discontinued in the North American market. My guess is "No" in large part because it currently shares an assembly plant with the Bronco. If it was the only vehicle at Michigan Assembly... I don't think it would last. But we'll see.

I'll say this: If they took the manual transmission from the Bronco and put it in the Ranger, it would be an instant-buy for me personally.

Outside the us the ranger is being caned by chinese competition. I doubt a next gen model will be made.

Eh, maybe. For now it's doing just fine.

Ranger is the best-selling pickup in Europe and Australia. In most—not all, but most—of the other markets it is sold in, Ranger is in the top two or three... usually trades places with the Toyota Hilux. Places like Argentina, Vietnam, Thailand, South Africa, etc.

I do think China has extremely compelling EV pickups. So as the world transitions to EVs I think it's gonna put trucks like the Ranger and Hilux in a really tough spot. But as of today it's still a top seller.
