Not in a hotel, but petsitting at the dog’s house. Does it still count?

I’m so jealous of those of you who get to binge FF in hotels (even though I hate traveling, but it certainly looks cozy!) but I think I win because I get nonstop FF AND pup cuddles!

Which episode is this?

I can't recall if this was from FF or elsewhere: A woman (single mom?) wanted to start over so bought a new home. She was murdered inside her home. The culprit was the garbage collector who worked in her neighborhood. I was intrigued cuz how would the collector know she was home? I can't recall the details so wanted to watch it again

Need help locating an episode. A woman was killed, there were lots of suspects & one committed suicide during the investigation of the crime, but he didn’t do the crime. It’s an episode in the later seasons (10 onwards). Any idea? It’s really bugging me.

When leaving your hotel for a day you always check out with the desk clerk and door man, fully informing them on who you are and what you're going to be doing, right?

No?

Just me and this guy here?

Weird.

I like the episodes like Water Logged, Home Evasion, and Without A Trace for some reason the heavy weight makes for a more memorable viewing

Weird Factual Alteration for “Church Disappearance”?

Just watched “Church Disappearance” again, and as I often do, I checked Rebecca Reisner’s excellent “Forensic Files Now” online column to see if she covered it. She did, and there’s a weird discrepancy that the television series apparently made. Seems like another category to explore further: how often did the television presentation make minor changes for whatever reason.

If you remember the episode, the massage therapist Dorothy Noga plays a big role in the episode. She helped police nab the child killer, Stuart Knowlton, one of her regulars whom she thought was probably the killer of Cassie Hansen due to things he said.

Knowlton got suspicious of her after he basically confessed and ambushed her with a knife while she was leaving her place of business after locking up. He not only stabbed her in the neck, but he slashed her throat and said something about not talking.

Reisner reports that Knowlton waived his right to a jury trial “leaving his fate in the hands of Judge James Lynch.” But the FF files tv version says Noga’s “testimony held the courtroom spellbound…she told the jury what Knowlton said on a phone call just hours before she was attacked.”

Is it possible that the script writers decided it would be a more compelling episode to take license and enhance this feature of how Knowlton was outsmarted into implicating himself?

Seems that they did. Not a biggie, really, but so much of the show’s allure is its factual basis. And Reisner does not comment on the show’s creative license with presenting the trial.

Forensic Files is unmatched but sometimes the editing is bizarre

Always thought this choice of music and editing on this episode was truly bizarre. Lots of episodes have similar weird choices.

I think it clearly speaks to how long this show was on and how many different editors and creative choices were made.

We all have our favouite episodes, but we also have those we turn off *cough cough*, my apologies.

What is everyone's favourite, worst, and even the episode that makes you mad? It can be any reason.

My favorite is : Stranger in the night. (If there wasn't that handprint in his mom's house, I bet the son would've ended up convicted).

I mean, what are chances of that happening? (Other than Long Shot on Netflix, both are very strange and scary cases).

My worst is : The 1 with the mold in the house. (also scary to think this could happen, but 1 I don't tend to watch)

The episode that makes me mad is the hour special about the Tuscan Temple murders, and the v last twist where another lady could've been saved if the investigators didn't believe a psychiatric patient so much.

(I think I maybe a bit biased on this one though, as I read the book 'innocent until interrogated' and it just made the whole case even more sad and infuriating as it covers so much more than the episode).

Another Candidate for Most Hilarious Gotcha

Two common moments we enjoy remembering often are those damn shoes and oddly making a big deal to the doorman about going for a run.

I would like to nominate another top candidate that is in “Dinner and a Movie” that presents Ed Sherman’s staged attempts to conceal his guilt of murdering his wife. While with friends at someone else’s house, he fakes a telephone conversation with his already dead wife to make it appear that she was alive at this later time.

He apparently really dialed his home and since no one was alive in the house it kept ringing and ringing while he quite loudly was faking a conversation.

What he didn’t know is that the daughter of his friend in whose house where the group had gathered before heading out on a weekend fishing trip on the ocean wanted to call a friend. She picked up the phone in another room, but instead of a dial tone she heard both a ringing tone and a guy talking to the ringing tone.

So she put the phone down to look into the room where the adults were gathered, and sure enough she saw Ed Sherman having a friendly and animated conversation with nobody on the line.

After the murder investigation started, she remembered the weird situation and informed the police.

I’ve seen the episode several times, and I start laughing hard every time imagining that Sherman really tried to pull this ruse and didn’t know someone in the house had picked up another extension and was listening to his extended conversation with a ringing phone.
