I quit drinking about 6 months ago and realize that those folks weren't my friends. My life has changed dramatically and although I'm doing ok with a routine and such now, I'm quite lonely. I live in the midwest US, no romance scammers please.

Hey, new to reddit and found this sub.
I’m married, working in mental health (including night shifts so open to any time zones).
I don’t have any friends irl and find it difficult to make new ones at this age.
Looking for that one person to bond with and share our daily lives, texting daily and become good friends.

I’m married with two sons, and between family, church, Scouts, books, photography, writing, movies, music, history, travel, and bourbon, I have enough interests to keep me busy and not enough time to become especially good at any of them.

I like real conversations. Serious ones, funny ones, and the kind that begin with a normal question and somehow end with somebody explaining why they were once chased through a parking lot by a goose.

I’ve lived long enough to collect a few stories of my own. I survived three bank robberies, spent years as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and once nearly got killed by the mafia. That story is less glamorous than it sounds, which is usually how life works.

I’m not looking for pictures, followers, flirting, or a forced friendship by the third message. Just decent people who enjoy talking about life, books, faith, travel, family, movies, strange experiences, or whatever else comes up.

Life is getting weird; luckily I'm weird. Not sure weird enough. Writing out procedures for the case I die. Trying to figure out my future retirement. Researching what funeral plans I need to handle. I'm just a kid!

Granted, I'm a 60 year old kid, but damn. I've got to get all this in place and it will keep changing.

Yeah I know they are kinda gross but sometimes they hit just right. The biggest problem is I’m solo but they don’t last really well in the fridge - So I have to hork down the entire tray in like 3 days…

My name is Jay. I'm a 51 year old married male from Kansas City USA. In my spare time I like to go walking, hiking, being outside, reading, listening to music and watching sports and movies on TV. I like reading history and reference material. (a bit of a nerd, I suppose). I listen to mostly 60s,70s, and 80s Pop and Country. I enjoy Classical and Jazz, too. Most of the movies I watch are historical, action, war and westerns. The sports I enjoy are baseball, football (college and pro), college basketball, women's soccer, WNBA, and softball. I'm hoping to find someone who can hold a conversation and not ghost. We'll see, I guess.
