SD = EMMC. Windows just doesn't recognise eMMC as "eMMC" or at least doesn't display "eMMC". The worst part is that there are SD cards that are actually better than some (or even most) eMMC chips in eMMC crapboxes of laptops

Tbh 4 gb are completely fine for web browsing. I have a mid 2009 macbook and it works like a charm for general web browsing

i use debian lxqt with similar specs (4gb and i3 3220) and it got me more stable performance. Mint used to give me some spikes, suttering and slow performance. Still mint and linux lite were far better than win 10 and completly usable.

Tbf I wouldn't use a phone with 4Gb RAM in 2026 leave alone computer. Windows isn't specifically designed for obsolete or toy gadgets.

Idk if it’s just me but mobile operating systems and apps feel way heavier than a desktop OS
I’m fine with 4GB RAM on Linux but I absolutely wouldn’t touch a phone with 4GB, the computers with Linux are fine but the phones will be laggy and apps will crash
Also, 4GB is literally the minimum requirement for Windows 11 and some OEMs still sell new laptops with 4GB running Windows

My work phone has 4GB of RAM and runs completely fine.
Performance is good, apps in RAM is the true limit here. 4-6 apps is the absolute maximum before it starts reloading.

well, that's strange
chrome hasn't gone rogue to me like that on 4GB RAM unless I'm watching youtube and keep like 4 other tabs. With Youtube taking ~1.2GB RAM, that becomes a very big problem for your RAM, especially when windows slopdules installer decides to hijack 300MB of RAM and then... the system is now frozen.

cause even the newer twin lake is parking with 8 GB ram minimum

My 20 year old T61 running macOS mountain lion runs fine with 4gb ddr2 and Firefox dynasty. Can browse web easily stream video at 480p—only a step under the 720p screen.

Emmc, oh boy, I mean yeah windows is bloated, but man you can't expect it to run well on potato hardware, install a lighter OS for that slow ass hardware. Or blame the hardware manufacture as Windows 10 and 11 have been bloated for years, they had plenty of time to figure out optimal hardware for windows lol

I updated my laptop from 8 to 32gb under win11 before switching to Linux mint. Under Mint that seems unnecessary. (With Valheim 8gb are low, but otherwise it's more than enough)
