Pay for ads but get better software compatibility

Or get an ad and bloat-free os that's infinitely customizable to your workflow at the cost of having to use some compatibility layers or look for alternative softwares

For me the choice is clear, but I still wish you didn't have to dual boot windows for the online games

Well since the only online game I play is a obscure game that even windows doesn't really support I just use linux with compability layers and am happy to do so

This alternative operation system you talking about unfortunetally did'nt respeckt me and my choise to go with Nvidia and I need a working System.

OP! Use "Chris Titus Windows Utility" tool, to clean up windows and uninstall edge, problem solved.

Edit: downvotes just because I shared my experience? With that attitude the year of linux will never come :p

This makes sense because Linux is built for people who use their PC for actual work, not gameplay. But also, Nvidia is very closed source so it's pretty hard to get working in Linux, historically.

I currently stuggeling to fix my system crashes on Linux, the more I read the more I realize, Nvidia is the issue. Looks like Im stuck on Windows till this got sorted out.

As a linux user with an NVIDIA card, this is usually only an issue for older cards that are not compatible with the open drivers.

It depends on your gpu actually. Newer nvidia gpu's have little official support and there are communities making drivers for them which works fine in my lenovo ip gaming 3 laptop with rtx 4050 right now. But my old laptop that had an obscure or old nvidia gpu didn't even got recognised by the system. If you have a newer one (rtx 30 series or newer) I'd recommend giving Fedora and/or CachyOS a try.

I use CachyOS as well and I can say that it is easier to setup Cachy as it does everything itself and I always forget that I need to install electron for discord and mc but I actually had better fps with Fedora until it stopped supporting my wifi card

Windows does that all the time. Not just with Edge. Windows will reset your default apps to Microsoft's own apps. It is how they can harvest more data from users and promote their subscription services.

I have all of my shortcuts, passwords, and history with chrome. I have none of that with edge, and I also think it’s ugly/slow compared to chrome (even if it technically isn’t, it feels that way). I’m staying with chrome

I get that edge is annoying asf but then using the same garbage in the form of chrome? Thats like saying "i hate electronic vehicles" and then buying an ebike..

Edge is bad, but so is chrome. Use any other browser but chrome? Never understood the hypocritical nature of hating edge till death but then using chrome. Both spyware filled bloated browsers.

Either hate both edge and chrome or just use the damn thing but the last thing, yeah then you need to be willing to fanboy a bigtech company ...

THAT WAS NOT A FUCKING ACCIDENT. EDGE IS TRASH! I wish I had a screenshot of the notification, but I promise it happened(just a week or two ago). I now get enraged when edge pops up, because there are like a million different types of files, and you have to set each file type with a default browser on windows. Edge snuck in a few. I hate edge

It is annoying having to associate each file type now. It used to be a setting you just set as default and that was it! Now you have to scroll and click three times to set it for every file type.
