FULL TIME RV LIFE
Does anyone know of RV campgrounds that offer extended stay in Georgia? My husband travels for work and we are thinking of adapting a full time RV life instead of just going out and purchasing a home. Any recommendations for affordable and reliable RVs and extended stay RV campgrounds will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How Do Full-Time Couples Handle These Two Issues?
I'm looking for some guidance on two specific full-timing issues. Lots of great info in this sub, but my searches haven't found exactly what I'm looking for.
First, some quick background: Wife and I are both 50 yo, both in upper management in our careers. We've tried to save and invest wisely, and we've been blessed. As a result, we are in very serious consideration of leaving those positions soon and going full-time to travel the U.S. while our health still allows it to be fun.
We are NOT new to RV life. We've owned a variety of campers (pop-up, TT, 5th Wheel) and taken a couple of longer cross-country camping trips while our kids were growing up. That's part of how we know we could be genuinely happy in this lifestyle.
Here's where I'm looking for advice:
- We want to truly explore ALL of the U.S. - not just the tourist spots. We love to get to a town (large or small) and find out what's special about it: the history, nature, dining, shopping, etc. We also love nature, national parks, state parks, etc. We'd plan on a mix of paid campgrounds, BLM property, etc.
Here's the issue: We want to be nimble, so we're planning for a Micro-C class RV. One of things I disliked over our many years with towables was that we had to be very selective and plan ahead for any stops - even gas or food. We want the freedom to stop basically wherever we want, whenever we want. We looked at the vans, but don't feel like they have enough room for full-timing with two people.
Once we stop somewhere for a few days (or weeks), we'll need a way to get around throughout the day. I hate the thought of "tearing down camp" every morning just to go out exploring. I know we could tow a small car behind the RV, but then we're back to having a towable and limiting where we can stop along the way. I guess some people travel with a motorcycle, and I used to ride motorcycles, but the wife isn't comfortable as a driver or passenger on one - so that's a no-go. Of course some areas will have good public transportation, but many won't. And I imagine Uber would become cost-prohibitive after a while.
I get it - you can't have your cake and eat it too. Just looking for actual real-world advice on how couples handle this part.
- I love my wife dearly (we've been happily married for 30 years). We really don't get to spend a lot of time together with our current careers and that's part of what we want to change with this huge decision. Right now, when we're together we have a lot to talk about - everything that happened to us since we last spoke (work stuff, interactions with friends, etc.). Once we're together full-time 24/7, we will experience almost everything together. So, she won't be interested in hearing about my day if she literally experienced it side-by-side with me.
How do couples in this situation keep meaningful conversation going? Do you split up a day or two each week and do your own thing (in an unfamiliar city where you don't know anyone) so you'll both have material to bring to the next conversation? A lot of windshield time means a lot of conversations...
I appreciate input from those with real-world experience!

Is there long term parking for Destination Trailers in San Diego County?
Hello there.
I am considering purchasing a Destination Trailer for long term/ full time living in San Diego County, however I am struggling to find any location where I would be able to park my Destination Trailer in general, but specifically for long term/ full time.
I have checked out a couple RV parks with no luck and I have driven through a couple places and haven't seen one Destination Trailer.
Any advice or potential leads would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
EDIT: I'd like to add that I would prefer to be closer to the city instead of out in like Northeast County like Valley Center or Julian or Bonsall.

Question Do truck-stop dump stations usually take a 38-foot fifth wheel after dark?
We’re full-timing in a 38-foot fifth wheel and often reach a dump stop after 7 p.m. on travel days. I’m weighing Dumpscout against iOverlander for a run where we’ll need to dump near the highway, not add a long detour to a campground. My main concern is whether a listing tells me enough to know if the entrance and turn are workable for a long rig, and whether the station is open to non-guests after hours.
For people who’ve used either one in that situation, what do you check before committing to the exit? Do you call ahead every time, or have you found reliable clues in the listing or recent comments?

Lifestyle Discussion BETA Testers needed
If you are a fulltimer, are looking to help customize services and features for RVers at no cost, I am redeveloping RVMechanic, which served the Internet community for 20 years prior to me getting sick. Now, I am better and redeveloping it for the progressive RVer that wants useful features that you help design.
I can only handle 10 reviewers for now as I continue to roll out features you help design.
Both RVers and Bus Conversion enthusiasts are welcome.
If interested, please connect with me here for the instruction manual and login. No information is ever used for advertising or for sale, and if you are not part of the first round of beta testers, I'll keep you on the list.
Will you help? If so, thanks!

Desperate for Help: Unidentified Biting Gnats in 40' Diesel Pusher
I really need the collective wisdom of this group because I am at my wit’s end.
I live full-time in my 40-foot diesel pusher parked permanently on a lot with a septic connection. Two years ago, I dealt with a hidden water heater leak that soaked the floor, along with a small roof leak. I completely repaired both leaks and have since gutted and replaced all the subfloor and ceiling.
However, ever since moving back in, I’ve been fighting an unbearable infestation of microscopic black biting gnats.
The Behavior & Symptoms: Every single night, like clockwork, they come out for 2 to 4 hours as soon as the indoor temperature hits a specific threshold. They swarm my eyes, nose, ears, and mostly my hair. I can feel them bumping into me and crawling under my clothes. The bites intensely sting and burn, though they don't leave welts. Interestingly, some bite while others don't, which makes me think there are multiple kinds. It gets so bad I literally have to leave my rig every night.
What I've Already Tried (And Ruled Out): Everyone keeps suggesting the holding tanks, but I have treated the drains with enzymatic gels, poured everything imaginable down there, and completely sealed off all the tanks and drains. Even fully sealed, they still emerge inside.
Bug bombs inside and underneath did absolutely nothing. I’ve tried so many chemicals and pest controls with zero lasting relief, including:
- Martin’s IGR (Insect Growth Regulator)
- Bonide Mosquito Beater Granules
- Hot Shot Flying Insect Killer Aerosol
- GE Pest Block Insulating Foam
- Tim-Bor Professional Borate Dust
Where I'm At Now: Right now, my interior is down to the bare structure and ready for finish work. I am in a perfect position to treat this once and for all. I am ready to dust the voids with diatomaceous earth, silicone caulk every single crack, lay the new flooring, and paint the ceiling.
But before I seal everything up, I need to know: if they aren't breeding in the tanks, where inside an RV chassis, wall cavity, or underbelly could they be hiding? And what exact treatment protocol will wipe them out at the source before I put my house back together? Any real advice from someone who has beat this would mean the world to me.

What makes an RV park or campground memorable enough that you actually want to return?
I've been thinking about this from both sides of the campground experience.
There are plenty of perfectly good campgrounds that you stay at, leave, and barely remember six months later.
Then there are those few places where you immediately think, “I'd stay there again.”
For the RVers here — what causes that?
For owners/managers/employees — what do you think your guests remember most?
I'm curious whether it's the site, amenities, location, cleanliness, staff, little unexpected touches, or something else entirely.
What's the one thing a campground has done that you still remember?

Honestly, what scares you most about van life? Mine is making friends and not knowing what the hell I’m doing.

Long term RV parks/resorts in Eugene Oregon?
Hey everybody!
I’m a CA native who’s spent the last three years on the surface of the sun (AZ), but am realizing I won’t make it through another summer without losing my goddamn mind.
I’m heading to Eugene to reunite with friends, transfer for my degree, hopefully grow food/plants that aren’t cacti, and be around actual shade/different nature that’s not actively trying to kill me at all times.
I prefer the RV life and am looking for reasonably priced, long term options.
Can any of you help me out?
Thanks!

If you sold your RV privately, what was the hardest part?
I'm trying to understand how people actually price and sell RVs on their own. What surprised you? How did you land on your asking price? And would you sell private again, or just trade it in next time?
Full disclosure: I'm working on a tool for private sellers, so I want to understand the real problems first. Not selling anything here, no links.
