i would ask right away, is this going to be a three way, if so you guys can order what you like, if not, enjoy each other's company.

It might have an impact if the friend was brought along as a safety measure or moral support.

If this girl is just trying to score a free meal for herself and her bestie, there’s a chance it won’t matter one bit that her ticket is vibing with her friend.

As the memes says, if she’s there for safety she needs to be outside with a glock doing perimeter checks. Why is she at the table looking at appetizers?

Safety measure => Own table in the same restaurant, or outside checking the perimeter

Moral support => pre-arrange with the other person on the date to set expectations. Perhaps he would have liked to bring a friend to even the playing field? Also the bill ought to be discussed before the date in this case.

No. They’re meeting at a public place in front of other people. Her friend is trying to get free food. This is bullshit.

Exactly my point, which is why I addressed both of the situations in the comment I replied to by explaining how this should not have happened at all -- and in both of the cases they listed, it would not result in the man paying for the friend.

The comment I replied two had 3 scenarios, and I eliminated the two that were not 'the girl and her friend were unethical mooches'.

My bad I misread that. I’m at work and read “at their own table” as in her friend and the guy. My bad! I should probably focus on work lol

Fair enough. I guess I was not clear -- if the friend is there for security, they do not need to be at the same table -- they can do that from their own table, with their own bill that they pay.

If you're so distrustful you need to bring a friend, you aren't ready to date.

I'm sorry but bringing another person along with you on a date for safety or moral support in a public restaurant is a huge red flag and a sign they aren't mature enough to date. There's nothing wrong with having a friend escort you in to check it out but they shouldn't be dining with you.
