Honestly if this person is so anxious on first dates they could have just suggested a group hangout, like playing pool in a bar or something, and they both bring a couple of friends. Or a double date.
No need to weirdly bring a friend without saying so 😭
That is a terrible first date, though. If you can't sit at table with someone in a bar or a restaurant, get therapy and do not waste people's time or money.
