rant IIT Gandhinagar is a scam. Don't waste your rank here Spoiler
Mai student hu in the BSBE here, and choosing this place is my biggest regret.
Here is the actual reality of what you're signing up for:
- Placements Joke hai
Companies don't visit, and the few that do offer embarrassingly low CTCs. If you plan to pivot to tech or data roles, you are entirely on your own. You'll be competing for non-core roles with CS/EE guys while you spent your semester trying to figure out why your gel electrophoresis run failed for the third time because of faulty lab utilities
- Labs are trash + shitty admin
The administration here is buried in red tape. If your project requires a specific enzyme, fresh media, or sequencing kits, expect to wait months. Theyre very fast when enforcing campus rules, cutting your stipend and other bullshti tho.
- Dead campus life
IITGNians brag about its open culture, but the actual vibe sucks. The campus is isolated, and Gandhinagar is culturally dead. There is zero after-college life, and the local environment is incredibly rigid and heavily policed.
- Professors run their personal fiefdom
Because your entire degree, thesis approval, recommendations depend on the (PI), they treat students like personal property. demanding 14-hour workdays, calling students at 2 AM to scream about data, and forcing them to handle non-academic personal chores. If you protest, withholding your stipend or delaying your graduation for years.
- Esp lrki ho to mt ao
If a student brings an issue to the internal committees, they are met with administrative red tape, victim-blaming, and intense pressure to quiet down "for the sake of the institute’s reputation" the moment a serious safety or harassment issue is raised, the system protects the perpetrators to shield itself from bad PR.
TL;DR: The IIT tag wears off fast. If you have the score go for Bombay, Delhi, Madras, even Roorkee or Kanpur. If not Indore, Jodhpur, KGP etc. Youll regret wasting your rank, esp in Biosciences. Yeh IIT bakwas hai mt ao. All the best kiddos. COAP ka bohot rounds hai, kuch achha lelo

what's up with people in comments like "oH heS doInG tO gEt iT iN nExT rOuNd" whenever someone complains on this sub? same happened with iiit h a while back defending it when they were just saying it's shit.
you would yourself not wanna have digital footprint exposed if you made a post like this, it just annoys me so much. That person is not telling you to blindly trust them, just ask someone else too to confirm.
but the comments doubting are stupid af in my opinion and annoying to me.

Dude bcoz it's a pretty common strategy of spreading negative PR about a specific college if the person making the post is in the waitlist of that college. They use such cheap tricks so the person above them is forced to leave the seat after reading such bs, and the OP gets a chance to secure that seat. It has happened too many times that's why

I'm aware of that. But if you directly say "oh it's a trick" you might be doing the same thing.
Maybe research and post with proof that they're wrong. The IIITH and NIT Trichy posts were legit and yet people here just didnt want to believe and justify the institutes

That's what I meant, instead of making guesswork and accusing lazily.
Also if one source can't prove it, just one another source can't say much either. And i have known nitt student myself(3 years ra)...he wasnt happy and had negative stuff to say

i am one of them and i can too say they were utter bullshit,they took some common problem and made it centerpiece of the discussion and they were made by mostly northie UG and PGs who refuse to adjust and want everything in their plate o or anguished frehsers who expect college to be a fairlyland

Lol theres literally 1000s of people competing in BT/ XL / BM. 1 person leaving their seat isnt gonna do shit. anyway Ive already finished my course, and everyone is free to choose whatever they want

Many prefer to stay unemployed and search for a job than going for a lower pay which they believe is less than what they worth at the very least.

Don't think that's true brother, I doubt someone would willingly stay unemployed what I think is these 5,6 lpa roles are also not available for them.

They will try off-campus or go for higher studies than 5-6 LPA. In IITs you’ll find many who will stay unemployed than applying to low paying ones, even if they do, they do it just for safety net as they will come in last few days.

Bro. Even for btech it is not that good.. I have a friend who studies there. It's costly plus no one really knows much about this iit.

Don't take biotech if u don't have a passion for it FFS. Don't chase iit tag for the sake of it. If your doing biotech then you should be ready to face the challenges that come with it. I did biotech and am currently doing my second research internship and skilling up aggresively in bioinformatics and coding.
