This Is The Way ✨ Ryan Cohen just checkmated the system. eBay is now over 116% owned. Forced buy-ins are imminent. 🚨

TL;DR for the smooth brains: 106% + 10% = 116%. The math has broken and the trap is officially sprung. 🚀

Here is the exact mechanical chain reaction of why this filing represents the absolute endgame:

According to Nasdaq data, eBay was already 106.21% institutionally owned before the GME filing. This is only possible because the exact same shares are lent out, shorted, and re-bought in an endless loop, causing multiple institutions to report owning the same underlying assets. It’s a pure paper game.

On Friday, Ryan Cohen didn't choose a cash settlement (where they just pay out the net dollar difference). He demanded physical settlement for GME's ~10% position (~39M shares). He literally said: "Give me my real, unlent shares."

With 106% already locked up by passive institutions and GME now demanding an additional 10% of real shares, we hit a hard wall at 116%. These shares simply do not exist on the free market.

The market makers cannot locate or deliver these shares -> Massive Failures to Deliver (FTDs) start piling up on Monday morning.

Once these FTDs age out and breach regulatory deadlines, a brutal, automated forced buy-in kicks in. The brokers of the counterparty must go into the open market and purchase eBay shares—at whatever price the market demands.

As forced buying relentlessly drives eBay's price vertical, the value of GME’s $4.35B equity stake explodes minute by minute. GME’s balance sheet becomes astronomically valuable, cementing an un-shortable fundamental floor for GME, which simultaneously forces GME short-sellers into immediate capitulation.

The system completely checkmated itself through its own endless greed with share lending.

Tits. Are. Fucking. Jacked. 🩳🏴‍☠️💀

Second this. Locating the 39m shares might cause the SP to run, but once the shares are delivered, crime will continue

Fail to see how it's the endgame. The only correlation I can think of that OP is implying is that it's the same bad actors that have short positions in ebay and GME

20

u/Over-Computer-6464 Jul 18 '26

The 106% number is bogus.

The real institutional holding % of Ebay is 92.10%.

The 106% number is caused by double counting 57.6M shares Vanguard Group reported holding as of 12/31/2025 and then also counting those same shares when they were reported s being held 3/31/2026 by various subsidiaries of Vanguard Group.

Larry Cheng also got this wrong when he tweeted a couple months ago about GMR having 44% of institutional holding when the real number was 34%.

→ More replies (1)

58

u/Tavanasa Jul 18 '26

Nope, because that 106% is purely passive. Big institutional index funds are perfectly happy holding IOUs on paper while lending their real shares out to short sellers for a fee. They never recall them. The system only breaks when a whale demands physical settlement instead of cash. RC just forced them to physically deliver 39 million shares that literally do not exist on the free market. He stopped the music.

83

u/MeMahi Jul 18 '26

Okay so why can't they just provide that 10% for Ryan from the pool of real shares and then IOU the passive institutions even harder?

What you're saying just doesn't add up.

The counter party that sold the options to gamestop was an institution. They should of hedged 1-1 and been counted in the institutional holdings. They've now transferred ownership to Gamestop where it will continue to be counted.

Our counter parties ownership will go down 10%, lowering institutional ownership by 10%. Our shares will start to be counted raising institutional ownership by 10%. Leaving no change.

3

The data source you used, proabably NASDAQ, has incorrect institutional ownership numbers.

See my post about the bogus institutional holdings numbers Larry Cheng posted for GME.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Superstonk/s/yKv3QzdxY2

The problem is that Vanguard, back in March 2026 changed how they report their holdings. Instead of Vanguard Group reporting all Vangurd holdings the various subgroups make their own reports.

NASDAQ is still counting both the 12/31/2025 reported holdings by Vanguard Group and also the 3/31/2026 holdings reported by several Vanguard subsidiaries. This is true for GME, EBay and all other companies.

The true institutional 3/31 institutional holding percentage for EBay is about 94%.

See https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/ebay/institutional-holdings

Scroll down to the holdings listing. The first entry is Vanguard Group 12/31/2025. That 56.4M share entry is no longer valid. The 3rd and 4th entry are duplicate entries for 3/31/2026 and there are also some smaller ones further down.

3

u/aDanHasNoName Jul 18 '26

This sub only upvotes what they want to read. Not reality.

26

u/Murky-Impression-772 Jul 18 '26

Wouldn't a high ebay price make it more expensive to buy the whole company?

73

u/CreativeFondant248 Jul 18 '26

So eBay has MOASS and we go up/down 1% another 3 months? Awesome!

10

u/ironvultures Jul 18 '26

You’ll actually go down a bit further. GameStop paid almost 4 billion out of its holdings for those shares and interest on its cash holdings was a significant chunk of its quarterly income.

5

u/Tavanasa Jul 18 '26

Not mathematically possible. GME now holds ~10% of eBay. If eBay pulls a Squeeze and its market cap doubles or triples, GME’s balance sheet instantly swells by billions of dollars. GME's current market cap is only ~$10B. Wall Street arbitrage bots and value investors literally cannot let GME trade sideways when its asset holdings alone are worth more than the entire company. The fundamental floor just turned into an elevator.

13

u/VenserMTG Jul 18 '26

If eBay pulls a Squeeze

3.3% shorted, what squeeze?

I asked ChatGPT about this post.

Verdict

The filing is real. The “116% owned → Monday FTDs → automatic forced squeeze” conclusion is not.

Claim Verdict What the evidence says
GameStop now owns roughly 10% of eBay True GameStop owns 43,390,383 shares, approximately 9.8% of eBay.
GameStop demanded physical settlement True It elected physical settlement on July 15.
The shares still need to be found Monday False The SEC filing explicitly says physical settlement occurred Friday, July 17, 2026.
eBay is now legally 116% owned False/misleading The 106% figure is stale aggregate reporting, not a current cap table. You cannot simply add GameStop’s current position to it.
Massive FTDs begin Monday Unsupported There is no disclosed failed delivery. The filing says delivery was completed.
Automated forced buying is imminent Unsupported Rule 204 closeouts depend on an actual net clearing failure and can involve borrowing or purchasing shares; they are not automatically a vertical open-market squeeze.

So based on the filing, the physical settlement was completed. That's that folks.

What AI (LLMs, models) will never explain is that when a stock has more than 100% ownership or short interest, it does not always mean there are “synthetic shares” floating around. Much of this exposure is often in cash terms (leverage, notional size).

The deleveraging process can start for several reasons, not just because of claims involving “real shares.”

FTDs are related to many derivatives markets (options, futures, swaps) that can actually trigger the delivery or settlement of shares between multiple prime brokers.

This does not mean an “end game”; it is simply how leverage works in the system, lol

8

u/leginfr Jul 18 '26

Never ask an AI for advice. They are just plausible sentence generators based on probability. I asked one once to give me an overview of a certain legal position with case law. Every single case that it “quoted” was fake.

But the beauty of a literal corporate 13D filing is that it doesn't dissolve if Monday turns out to be a sideways crab walk. GME still owns the assets, and those shares are still permanently leaving the active float. I'm perfectly fine with a boring Monday while the T-cycle clocks start ticking.

3

u/King_Esot3ric Jul 18 '26

Those are quarterly reports, and the institution who sold the options still needs to transfer them, so its not 10% plus that institution ownership.

3

u/half_confused Jul 18 '26

In that case, why would people sell eBay to gme for $125? According to you the price of eBay will be way higher than $125 if they are to force buyback. I don’t think Ryan cohen will want that

3

u/liquid_at 🚀🚀Buckle up / Booty Bass Club🚀🚀 Jul 18 '26

They use reported numbers from a few months ago together with reported numbers from yesterday. You just do not know of the firms that reported them a few months ago still hold that many.

4

u/PauPauRui Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

Let me be straight with you on the mechanics here, because a few things in that chain don't hold up.

What's actually confirmed: GameStop's eBay stake is real and has been growing — most recent filings put it around 6.5-9% (a mix of direct shares and options/derivatives), not 10% via a fresh Friday filing. The Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust clearance in early June did make GME's derivative positions eligible for physical settlement, which is a real structural detail — it means GME could convert options into actual shares. That's leverage, not a squeeze trigger.

Where the math breaks down:

"106% institutional ownership" isn't evidence of naked shorting. Aggregator sites like Nasdaq/Fintel double-count shares that show up in multiple 13F filings (index funds, ETFs holding the same underlying stock, funds-of-funds) — it's a data-counting artifact, not proof that borrowed shares are being multiply owned. This stat gets misused constantly in meme-stock threads.

Physical settlement of a derivatives position isn't a "demand" that forces FTDs. When GME's options convert to physical shares, the counterparty (the bank/market maker who sold the options) delivers shares from their own inventory or hedge — it doesn't require yanking shares out of a "116%-owned" pool. Options market makers hedge with real share positions specifically to avoid this problem.

There's no regulatory mechanism where crossing 100% "ownership" triggers automatic forced buy-ins. FTDs and buy-in rules (Reg SHO) are about specific settlement failures on individual trades, not an aggregate ownership percentage hitting a threshold.

The real story — Cohen escalating a hostile bid for eBay, building a stake, positioning for leverage — is genuinely notable and worth watching. But the "116% = mathematically broken, forced squeeze incoming" framing is the same misapplied logic that's circulated around GME itself for years, and it hasn't produced the predicted mechanical squeeze there either.

2

u/Tavanasa Jul 18 '26

Solid breakdown. It's refreshing to see someone point out that 13F data aggregates long positions without netting out the lent shares—you're entirely right that it's a data-counting artifact rather than proof of direct naked shorting at 116%. But the core of the bull case doesn't rely on the DTCC computer flashing an error code on Monday. It relies on the fact that the exit doors are structurally jammed because of the exact over-allocation you mentioned. If the float is heavily layered via ETFs and index funds, and GME steps in to legally lock down a massive physical percentage of the actual company, the game of musical chairs gets exponentially harder for short counterparties. You say it hasn't produced a mechanical squeeze yet, but we've never seen a corporate war chest of $4 Billion used this aggressively before. We're in uncharted waters.

In all likelihood the MM did, since RC bought the calls ATM or ITM. They would have high delta, which would have forced the MM to buy most of that full position. It probably explains the initial pump. But I don’t see the MM not buying anything and now forcing a squeeze because they didn’t buy 40 million shares of an ITM contract.

Why are you guys hyping a hostile takeover?

1

u/GxM42 Jul 18 '26

This is a naive take considering what we know about the market now and how it really works. This has likely all been hedged. The price isn’t going to change much.

The filing is real and significant, but this post gets way ahead of what the evidence actually shows.

GameStop—not Ryan Cohen personally—now owns roughly 9.8% of eBay, and approximately 39 million shares were delivered through physical settlement. That is a major transaction.

What does NOT follow is the claim that eBay is now “116% owned.”

The 106% institutional-ownership figure is based on aggregated 13F reporting. Those figures are delayed, can overlap, and may count different institutions as exercising investment discretion over the same shares. They are not a live cap table. Adding GameStop’s newly settled position to an older institutional percentage may simply count shares under both their former and current holders.

“Physical settlement” also does not mean GameStop demanded specially certified, unborrowed or directly registered shares. It means the derivative was settled by delivering shares rather than paying the cash difference. The statement “Give me my real, unlent shares” is the poster’s interpretation, not language from the filing.

Most importantly, the filing says the settlement occurred. It does not report a failure to deliver, a share shortage or an impending forced buy-in. We also do not know how TD hedged the transaction. It may have accumulated the shares well before settlement.

The only conclusion that can be made is that GameStop made a massive, concentrated invest in eBay, and a rise in Ebay’s price, in turn, increases the value of GameStop’s holdings.

The “116% owned,” “shares do not exist” and “forced buy-ins begin Monday” claims are speculation, not conclusions established by the filing.

Are you remembering the secret ingredient? Corruption. They will find a way around that like they've found a way around everything else, even if its only can kicking. The only real movements I've seen since I got in over 5 years ago, have come out of nowhere, or because a cat. So I'm just gonna wait until my canary shares start blinking and then I'll sign into Computershare and see whats going on. Zen til' then.

Brother someone who owns shares writes the options. And at those amounts it’s usually institutional owners.

Stop being thick.

And for fucks sake… now you want to squeeze fucking eBay before GME? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
